Another pleasant discovery in the Carrer de Saragossa area - a husband and wife team that runs the La Terrassa café-bar-restaurant.
It's a nondescript unpretentious place . We took a peek and, seeing the tapas behind the glass "enclosure," we hopped in. Looked really homey, cozy.
The Callos à la Madrileña was soooo good we could not help but swoon after every mouthful. The tripe and meat were very tender and the chorizo slices slightly spicy. The sauce we poured over baguette bread and wiped the plate clean even, haha.
Paired it with Spanish potato omelette, mixed salad and voilà! Plus freshly squeezed orange juice.
A very satisfying meal especially since prices are so reasonable ! 5.50 euros for the Callos, 3.50 Tortilla Española.
Also enjoyed chatting with Florentino, the husband, who is the main cook. Surprisingly, as wiith encounters with other restaurant personnel, he surprised us with a couple of Filipino words!
The restaurant started filling up as we were leaving, couples, an entire family of eight( with kids) ....
This is definitely a must-try place: good food, very reasonable prices, warm homey ambience, quiet neighborhood.
Ps: but NOT for...
Read moreAbsolutely loved Bar La Terrassa. A true family run hidden Gem. About as traditional as I have found, tucked away from the hustle in a super chill neighbourhood. You get the feeling this place isn't for tourists, its for the neighbourhood families, which was great. Visited Sunday afternoon in late April with 3 other family members. Full of locals, Barca game on the TV and excellent tapas, great wine and beer. My only regret is not speaking better Spanish so I could have had a chat. Highly recommend the Albondigas, but all the food was superb. Staff were lovely and the food very reasonable. When we go back to Barcelona, we will definitely ...
