Restaurant Review: Great Food, Terrible Service By My Server

I visited this cute brunch spot on the morning of May 28, and while the food and coffee were fantastic, the service was a huge letdown.

The cafe itself is adorable, with great decor that sets a cozy, welcoming vibe. The mushroom truffle I had was delicious, and the coffee was excellent—definitely a highlight.

However, the service from my server was disappointing. She had a full sleeve tattoo on her left arm, wore glasses, and was a bit taller than the other staff. I’m describing her because I want the owner to know exactly who I’m referring to, as the other servers were fantastic and seemed to know how to engage with customers. From the moment I sat down, she didn’t greet me, barely acknowledged my presence, and her tone was dry and disinterested. I ordered the mushroom truffle, and before I could even get a photo of the dish (it had a cool smoky cover), she came over and removed it—no question, no warning. She didn’t check on me once during my meal, and I could see the other servers were interacting with their tables in a much friendlier, more professional way.

It wasn’t a case of being busy—other tables were well taken care of, and it was clear that a simple smile and basic politeness could’ve made the experience so much better. It’s the little things that make a big difference, and unfortunately, my server failed to deliver.

One last note: This is one of the few places that asks for tips, which I found a bit odd given the service I received. Still, I tipped because I didn’t want the kitchen or the other servers to miss out due to one person’s lack of effort.

While the food and coffee were great, I hope the owner addresses the service issue. Perhaps, the owner should train this server so she can learn a thing or two from other servers who are much friendlier.
