I had wonderful memories of this restaurant from several years ago, which is why I decided to return with my 15-year-old son and my husband to relive the flavors of India. Having lived in the UK for many years, we are accustomed to the authentic Indian cuisine you typically find in West London, and we were excited to experience those familiar tastes again in Barcelona.
We opted for the tasting menu, which I paired with a glass of white wine. However, I was a bit taken aback when the wine bottle arrived already opened and nearly full. While I didn’t want to begin the meal on a negative note, it did feel somewhat unusual.
The starter, which featured lamb and chicken kebabs cooked in the tandoor, along with prawns, was not quite what I had hoped for. The kebabs were pre-cut into small pieces and were very dry, lacking the fresh, juicy texture I expected. They also didn’t pack much flavor, leaving them quite underwhelming. The portion sizes were also smaller than anticipated—just one piece of chicken breast and three tiny prawns, which didn’t have much flavor either. I expected a more generous portion, especially for a tasting menu.
For the main course, I decided to try a new fish dish introduced for Christmas. Unfortunately, I found it rather underwhelming. The flavor was bland and watery, and the white fish was a small tail piece, which was both disappointing in size and taste, especially given the price.
As a Spaniard, I’m used to traditional Spanish cuisine, which isn't typically very spicy. I understand that many restaurants may adapt their dishes to the local palate to survive, but I think it's wrong to tone down authentic flavors. In Barcelona, the food culture has evolved to embrace diverse, bold flavors.
While my son was generally content with the meal and my husband enjoyed being there, this visit didn’t meet the expectations I had based on past experiences. Additionally, I had mentioned in my reservation that it was my husband’s 60th birthday. While I wasn’t expecting special treatment, the automatic reservation system does ask for remarks, comments, and observations, so I provided one. It felt surprising that there was no acknowledgment, even though it’s a customer-focused business.
In the end, I was quite disappointed with this visit. The meal did not live up to the high standards I remember, and unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be returning. I hope the restaurant can regain the quality...
Read moreLast night, we had the pleasure of dining at Bambi in Barcelona, and it was truly a fantastic experience. From the moment we stepped inside, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for the evening. The décor was chic yet cozy, creating the perfect environment for an intimate and relaxing dinner.
The service was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive, and every member of the team made us feel genuinely welcomed. Their recommendations were spot on, and they clearly took pride in ensuring that every guest had an exceptional dining experience.
The food was an absolute treat! Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. To complement our meal, we enjoyed a bottle of wine of No12 from their carefully curated selection, which was the perfect match to the dishes we ordered.
At €79 for the evening, including the wine, the meal felt like incredible value for the quality and experience. It’s rare to find a restaurant that hits all the marks—amazing food, outstanding service, and a great ambiance—but Bambi did just that.
If you're in Barcelona and looking for a memorable dining experience, Bambi is an absolute must-visit. We’ll...
Read moreWe came to Bembi due to it saying it was a modern Indian cuisine and its high ratings. We were sat promptly and thought the decor was very nice. Right away we noticed the host did not have a smile on his face but decided to look past it as we were excited to try Indian food in Barcelona. We ordered paneer tikka. We got the paneer tikka rather quickly. When we bit into it, it was cold And hard. It was not cooked. When we asked the host to take a look at it, he was visibly upset that we complained about it. They took it away and brought us a new one but you can tell this time it was cooked as it was soft and steam was coming out of it. The flavor was average. This was not modern Indian food. As a resident of the US, who has traveled quite a lot, it was very disappointing to see the behavior exhibited towards us as well as the food quality. I watched a video about this establishment and they boasted about working in 5 star hotels. The behavior here is 1 star at best. Hopefully they take this criticism and treat customers of their restaurant with...
