We spent 3 days in montjuic barcelona the first day we went to specifically to this restaurant Dumplings because of the high google rating. The place was easy to find it has a small entrance that goes into a deep hall and opens wide to the back. The place was clean and looked decent. We got the menu and it was comparable to other japanese place in the USA and Canada. We ordered the ramen 2 of them, a salmon nigiri and pollo katsu. The ramen looked almost like the good ones like those that you get from authentic ramen houses. But this is where the similarities end. The taste of the broth was thick and looked rich or flavourfull but when we tried it, it was too salty for our tongue and we like salty food. The noodles also looked the part but if your expecting like in-house made/ hand pulled noodles, dont bother cause they re not. They taste like off the shelf grocery noodles. The egg was good though it was cooked with the yolk barely cooked but the white part was cooked well. They did not have and seaweed that came with it and had chicken with it. Also not good they said it was teriyaki but didnt taste like it. The salmon nigiri was not half as bad. The salmon tasted fresh the japanese rice was done right the only drawback was the size of the serving it was 14 euros it was small for the price , the sides also was not at par with good japanese restaurants the wasabe was almost blue you know its synthetic , the pickled radish was not bad except i had a strand of cloth fiber in it that i found after having eaten the first. So needless to say i did not finish it. The last was the pollo katsu. It looked like it was premade , frozen then thawed and fried. Not what we expected. We at least kinda expected poultry to be battered and then fried. Not like the ones you buy of costco except the one from costco is better tasting. Cause the chicken was dry and bland. The breading did not taste like your katsu breading that had the panko in it to make it crispy nor did i have enough seasoning in it. So for me it was a fail. We paid a total of 61.90 euros which included 4 regular bottled water cause they did not serve tap water. We would not and do not recommend anyone who have a taste for japanese cuisine to go here cause you would be disappointed. The general public likes it but we did not based on what we got. And for the price there are alot more places to go and eat better food for the same amount...
Read moreWe recently ate here on June 28. When we walked in the interior itself was quite nice the entrance was first a small and short hall and it opened up more at the bottom. When we got sat down at our table the waiters didn’t actually give us water. The waiters didn’t speak English except for one so it would be a little easier of you could speak Spanish or you could point to what you would want on the menu itself. The bottles were 2,50€ x4. We ordered the Cho yu (Shoyu) ramen, the pollo bowl, and the salmon nigiri. There were three types of shoyu ramen, the one I had was with chicken. It was too salty, the chicken especially. The noodles felt like they were from a grocery instant ramen and didn’t really feel authentic. The broth was way too salty as well. My family loves salty food but this was just too much. The salmon nigiri wasn’t actually all too bad, the rice was cooked properly and the fish was alright. It was just the sides that didn’t do it all that good, the wasabi was easily synthetic and my father said that he had a strand of finer in the radish so he couldn’t eat it anymore. The pollo bowl was just a huge nope. The chicken tasted like it had been taken out of the freezer, left to be thawed then tossed in the fryer. We won’t be coming back here again...
Read moreHi! We found this restaurant by accident through Google. We wanted something typical Spanish, but there were no restaurants that we would be interested in. When we discovered this place, we were attracted by the interior, the prices of the food, but also the visuals of the meals. So we said that we will give to it a chance and it was a great decision! 👍 The food was cheap, really very tasty. Great ramen, excellent noodles and fresh, quality sushi! The staff was very nice and helpful. Even though they didn't speak English very well, they tried to explain everything to us. I really appreciate that! We ate so much that we didn't eat anything all day. And the ,,cherry on the top” was the great dessert "mochi". It was a delicacy. If I visit Barcelona again, I will definitely visit Dumplings again! Thank you very much! Sending love from...
