Overrated, mediocre sandwiches. Barceloneta panini had a lot of Sardella (sardine paste) but it was so incredibly salty I had to scrape half of it off, leaving some sad, undercooked potatoes and tasteless provola ahumada. Horribly, imbalanced sandwich. The other one (Castrovillari) was a bit better, but still lacking. Good tasting meat, but 4 small slices on a 9€ sandwich? Most bars will make make a much better bocata for half the price around the city. Flavor profiles were all bland, and we both left hungry. Prices jumped 13% since earlier this year, and the sandwiches have gotten smaller. Nice terraza near the beach, but there are better options in Barceloneta for a quick snack.
Ps: you received two bad reviews at same time because you had 2 disappointed diners at the same time. I have been following your restaurants over the last year, and the prices are clearly seen on menus from this past year with the sandwich at 8€ (9€ being a 12.5% increase, I took the liberty of rounding up). Looking at previous pictures I surmised the sandwiches also got smaller. I have no ill will against your business and wish you success. I just think your sandwiches are subpar and can be improved. I find it suspicious you have this many...

The Foccacia Del Giorno sandwich was on a freshly soft, dense yet crispy foccacia. It featured an incredibly fatty, melting-in-the-mouth mortadella which paired absolutely perfectly with the emulsifying-creamy-burrata. And to top off this masterpiece, an addition of pesto and pistachio brought out a herby-freshness and nutty finish.
The Marulla sandwich was served on a fluffy yet crispy panini, which was noticeably fresh. It featured a picante salami, bringing out the chilli and paprika spices. Also, featured was a spicy Nduja with melted provolone cheese. To top it off, the sandwich included patatas al Horno, which are Spanish baked potato’s, creamy and fluffy.
The Calaburger featured Abondingas en salsa de tonate- a popular tomato based meatball. This sandwich also came packed with provolone cheese and spicy nduja. The meatballs were soft and the sandwich was moist in the mouth.
The Sanizzo featured a finely cut chorizo, which had a delicate and fatty taste. There was also provolone cheese and spinach included on the sandwich. This sandwich had a simple spinach-chorizo flavour.
Overall, this was a fantastic start to Barcelona, a beautiful sandwich shop, with quality...
Read moreWhat an awesome sandwich shop! A bit of Florence in Barcelona. Came across an Instagram post of this place, which looked delicious - and so glad I did! I’m not unfamiliar with Barceloneta, having many favorites in the neighborhood - but otherwise never would’ve known about Compa. Only a block from the Barceloneta mercat and main square. Tiny closet of a spot - so it’s really takeout only. Despite its Italian roots, it felt like a local favorite on the Sunday night I popped in. A packed house and street corner. Kind and fun couple running the show. A firecracker blonde you rarely meet in Barcelona, full of zip and flair and charm, played host and guide to the beautiful sandwiches. I took mine back to the square, and inhaled it there while watching ping pong games and children playing soccer. Lovely change of pace from tapas. Will be back! Highly...
