Read moreBarcelona is probably one of the prettiest city in the world. It has it all: it's a cosmopolitan metropolis, with an incredible architecture, surrounded by beautiful mountains, mediterranean climate and, my favorite part, it has stunning beaches, with La Barceloneta being its most famous one.
Located in La Barceloneta neighborhood, which used to be an independent, quiet fishermen village, the area became very popular among tourists after the 92 Olympic games.
Nowadays, especially during summer time, the place becomes super packed with tourists from allover the world, which can make the situation a bit too hectic. Since the beach is not that big, sometimes is so full of people that could become a claustrophobic nightmare. I would recommend visiting the beach at the end of September-early October though, when the weather is still very pleasant and tourists are not that many.
The neighborhood is full of bars, restaurants and clubs which will make your days and nights a vibrant experience.
I recommend staying in an Airbnb apartment, in one of these cute, narrow buildings which make the neighborhood´s skyline so unique. These apartments are in fact very small but super cozy and, usually, include a top terrace that offers an incredible view. Prices are very affordable.
For those who like a more luxury option, no worries, it's plenty full of five stars hotel, including the iconic W Hotel.
