A perfect itinerary when your visiting Barcelona with the kids, this is an identical day for us when we only had 2 full days in Barcelona. ✨SAVE for your next trip as there’s 15+ activity ideas for your next family city break to Barcelona 🇪🇸✨ 🏨 Woke up at Novotel Barcelona City and enjoyed some play time before we headed out. This is huge when travelling for kids, because we’ve overlooked playing before and they really do need it! Ⓜ️ The metro is one of the best transports lines in Europe so definitely take advantage. They have a handful that don’t have lifts (check online) and it’s so easy hopping on and off with a pushchair. Will share on my highlight of someone helping us 😅 🥐 grabbed some coffee and fresh croissants from Cafe Pans (they’re all over Barcelona so you will see them at every corner) and so cheap!!! *Billy Brunch is also super family friendly but we didn’t have a chance to visit on our trip but highly recommended online 🏛️ Gothic Quarter for gelato and sightseeing. The boys really enjoyed it as there’s no cars and play areas in the square 🙌🏼 🍉 The supermarkets here, have watermelon cut into a whole quarter so you don’t need to buy a whole one! So handy for healthy snacks 🫶🏼 🍦 The Sagrada Família is equipped with two play areas for younger and older kids! Just so we’ll thought out and perfect to do a parent swap and go inside on your own PLUS there’s a McDonald’s across the road serving those €1 cones! 😍 nostalgia 🍜 Stopped for a pad thai dinner and another play area! The boys were so tired when we go back to the room. We grabbed a pizza and everyone was bathed and sound asleep in bed, ready for next days adventure 🫶🏼 Additional days out with kids: 🦒 Barcelona Zoo 🔭 Cosmocaixa (Science Museum) 💦 Montjuïc Magic Fountain 🎡 Tibidabo Amusement Park 🐡 Barcelona Aquarium 🍫 Chocolate Museum 🌳 Labyrinth Park 🏯 Museu Blau (Natural History Museum) 🏖️ Barcelona Beaches 🚠 Montjuïc Cable cars 🚢 Maritime Museum

Visiting Barcelona Zoo was like hitting the jackpot for animal lovers and seriously, it’s a must-do if you’re in town. Tucked away in the stunning Parc de la Ciutadella, this place is home to a crazy variety of animals from all over the globe. Perfect spot for families, anyone who’s into animals, or if you just wanna snap some cool pics. Right off the bat, I felt like I stepped into a whole new world. The animal habitats are super well done, making sure all the critters have a space that feels like home. The primates were a blast to watch, and the Land of the Dragons with its Komodo dragons? Absolutely wild. What I really dig about this zoo is how much they focus on teaching visitors about the animals and conservation. There’re signs all over the place with fun facts about the animals and the kind of threats they’re facing in the wild. It’s clear that Barcelona Zoo is all about taking care of its residents and helping visitors learn something new. The interactive stuff was the cherry on top. Getting up close with some of the animals and even getting to watch some feeding sessions was epic. Plus, the staff are super friendly and know heaps about the animals, which makes the visit even better. And let’s not forget the chill spots scattered around the zoo. Whether you’re looking to escape the city hustle for a bit or just wanna relax in the sun, there’s plenty of space to kick back and relax. To wrap it up, Barcelona Zoo is more than just a place to check out animals. It’s a spot for learning, conservation, and kicking back. A visit here is not only fun but also super insightful and kinda inspiring. For anyone hitting up Barcelona, the zoo is a total must-see.

Third time I've been to the zoo this year, I love the zoo and the animals but my recent trip left me thinking that I don't really agree with Zoos anymore. Some of the animals looked a bit sad (see photos attached) and a lot of just seek shelter or shade because it's too hot, the Grizzly bear and Pedro the Rhino looked beyond sad. Pedro the rhino was laid in the exact same position as when we visited in 2015. 7 years of sitting there day in day out alone in a small enclosure being looked at and pointed at by humans. That is no life. I love to see them up close but I can't help but feel what we are doing to them is cruel. Personally if they must be kept then I'd rather see less smaller animals and more bigger animals with much more space to roam. With lots of enrichments for them. I felt a lot of the zoo is just birds and other smaller animals, which yes they are nice but I come to the zoo to see the bigger animals and I'd rather them have more space at the expense of keeping the smaller animals. In my opinion only endangered animals should be held in captivity to help preserve their existence. So I had a great day out but looking back I just left feeling that zoos need to rethink how they operate, maybe less capacity with more space for the bigger animals that need it. I mainly went to see the gorillas but Ebobo and his family spent the entire day closed away in their shelter, evrytime I have been it has also been hard to see the big cats too as they lay in shade all the time. Maybe zoos would be better off specialising in one animal group such as primates or reptiles etc. So I did enjoy my day but I now have an overwhelming feeling of guilt, the slight of poor Pedro the rhino alone is enough to warrant my review score, I don't know how those that work there can look at him everyday laid there with flies around his watery eye, it breaks my heart just looking at photos, please build him a bigger enclosure or release him and others into the wild where they belong. I now urge everyone to avoid Zoos and stop the support of keeping these animals locked up like this.

I'm a Zoo Club member. I visit here very often and it's a great time. There's a lot of animals of all different types. The park itself is mostly beautiful and some of the enclosures are made really nicely, which gives of a fun vibe. There's also multiple indoor 'Mini Zoo's' as I could call it with a specific animal type inside. It's a great time to go here alone, with friends or with your kids. The peacocks that walk around freely in the park are a nice touch to make it an even cooler experience. Still, there are some things that should be better. The first and in my opinion most important one are the information cards for the animals. Some of them are in a really bad state and some of them are even missing. This is very unfortunate, because you obviously want to know what the animal you're looking at is called. It would also be nice if there was more information for each animal (how big/heavy/... they are, for example). This information is provided for some animals, but for most of them there's only the name. Another thing that makes my experience just a bit less nice is the fact that right now (27/03/2024) there are a lot of places in the zoo inaccessible because they are being worked on. This is of course understandable and will make this zoo a nicer place in the long run. All in all, there are a lot more positives then negatives and I really enjoy coming here. I will visit it a lot more often!

We had an okay experience at Barcelona Zoo. The area is extremely large - we were there for over 3 hours. I would say that’s the minimum amount of time needed, especially if you’re looking to see as much as possible. In terms of animals, there was a fair amount to see, but quite a few closed areas (no tiger, no reptiles, etc), which was a big shame and should be mentioned on the website or app prior to the visit. Of the animals we did see, some looked really crowded and unhappy in their enclosures - certain enclosures were just far too small, which needs to be rectified. On the contrary, others had a lot of space, which just didn’t make sense and felt a little unfair. Barcelona Zoo offers multiple restaurants and places to go and grab something to eat, which is really nice, but the quality of the food is low. The chips were bland and everything is overpriced in general. I would suggest maybe bringing a picnic instead for a better experience. I was also not a big fan of where the zoo is situated, as it felt very industrial around and not really the ideal place for all of these species. Whilst we enjoyed our day out and saw some cool animals, I think this zoo needs to think more about the well-being of the animals, improve their services and be a bit more vocal about when things are closed. These elements would really make things better.
