So I was looking for a place to get today's fix of ice cream/gelato when I saw this place with a 4.9 rating on Google Maps, which I of course had to check out and I was NOT disappointed. One reviewer wrote they have the best pistachio she'd ever had, and I thought that obviously she's never been to Mos Eisly in Berlin, but yes, she's right. The memory of Mos Eisly is almost faded so I can't say which is better but this is definitely a winner among winners. I thought that it tasted quite a lot like peanuts though, not that it's a bad thing, but unexpected in a Pistachio flavour.
The "Limon y jengibre" (lemon and ginger) flavour can very well be the best flavour of ice cream/sorbet/gelato I've ever EVER had. It was so good in fact, that after I had finished my first three scoops, I immediately purchased a cup with two scoops (one was Fresa though) and I was reminded that one scoop of anything lemony is quite enough, a second scoop is just too sour and kind of ruins the whole experience for me. It was so good I went back here on my last day in town for a last fix of the lovely sorbet.
Fresa (strawberries) tasted like they just taken really good tasting frozen strawberries and run them through a blender.
When I saw "Straciatella de coco" I thought, "JACKPOT!" two of my favourite ice creams (straciatella and coconut) all in one, but I was kind of disappointed. I didn't really taste much of either, I'm sorry to say.
Limon y jengibre: 6/5, best ever Pistacho: 4.5/5: sort of peanutty flavour. Fresa 4/5: strawberries in a blender. Straciatella...
Read moreWe tried this place based on recommendations. To be honest it's nothing to write home about. 4,50 EUR for 2 smaller than usual sized portions of ice cream is too much, especially given the taste and quality that was okay, but nothing extraordinary. While it was obviously homemade, I would still compare it to generic shopping mall quality/taste. 2 streets away Badiani for the same price is significantly better value (which has less variety but much better taste).
The service was exceptional, they were very attentive, but unfortunately that does not justify the price.
The fact that they use the ice cream spoons just one time, for each portion and then put it away in the dishwasher was quite unbelievable for me, it must be horrible for the environment to use so much water and wash them so frequently. I'm sure there must be more sustainable ways to serve the ice cream with a clean spoon to every customer. We live in a city with extreme drought and water restrictions, they should pay more...
Read moreI Appreciated the fact of the tray with flavor separator. Let's come to the tastes I tried.
Pistachio: sweet just right, very delicate, I noticed an aftertaste of honey, I don't know if it is a peculiar characteristic of Lleida pistachio or because it is added. Not a purist pistachio flavor. Pleasant. 3/5
Cookie Caseras: ice cream with pieces of chocolate and biscuit which, however, have no taste, surprisingly negative. Totally anonymous except for the dark chocolate chips present. 1/5
Milk with dulce de leche with cacahuetes salados: very delicate milk taste, just the right sweet. In salted peanuts you do not feel the salt at all and there are very few between one spoonful and another, as is the dulce de leche. 2/5
Belgian chocolate: a mediocre chocolate, sweet just like all the flavors I tried, slightly salty, too sweet in the aromas, it definitely lacks...
