Pizzeria Bar Ottantotto — Restaurant in Barcelona

I’m beginning by making it clear that I am a “pizza person.” I have had long fights over favorite places with accomplished artisans; I have gotten on a plane to eat pizza at a new place; I will eat pizza as my last meal. Got it?

OTTANTOTTO makes THE BEST pizza in Europe, outside of Italy.

I do not make this claim lightly. There is a harmony to the whole pizzas - an elegance to the balance of flavors - a local’s touch with each ingredient - that cannot be measured. It must be tasted.

It. Must. Be. Tasted.

I have one more day in Barcelona, and I will return twice more before getting on the plane. There are two small tables as you walk in; seven more downstairs. We were seated by the co-owner immediately; the people who came in 3 minutes later were told it was a 30 minute wait. When we left, a group sitting outside was ecstatic because they got our table.

Eat the Calabria to understand what I mean about balance. Order a simple Margherita to find joy in the simplicity of wonderful ingredients. But - whatever you do - don’t miss out on this tiny spot close to Sagrada Família. It’s open for lunch; then closes for awhile; then reopens for dinner. Why are you still reading...

We shared the Porchetta and had a Pizza Marinera and a Pizza Calabria.

My wife and I love Pizza and went to Napoli on our honeymoon. This pizza was better than what we had there.

The light crispy base, slight chew to the crust was fantastic.

The Marinera sauce was superb, balanced between sweet and tangy with a great hint of garlic and just the right amount of olive oil.

The Calabria had amazing Kalamata olives but not too many, the spicy salami had a great flavour and spice.

Tiramisu and cheesecake to finish.

Tiramisu was nice but for me could have used more coffee flavour the cheesecake looked good but my wife got through that before I could get a look in.

With 2 pints of beer and a Sprite the bill came to €50.

Would have happily paid more. Will definitely...

Love the quality of the tomatoes sauce. 💸 Price: Excellent price/quality comparing similar places. We spend 35 eur for 2 pizzas beer and coke! ✨ Service: Love the service. It’s a VIP one! The tattoo girl is so nice 🏬 Interior: the kept the originality of the interior with some new designs. Love the italian details all around.
