Very disappointed by the experience. I am a regular of Taverna Glop in Gracia but, as it was fully booked tonight, I decided to try this one near Sagrada Familia. When entered the place was almost empty. The menu is the same of my usual Glop so I went on buying my usual things. The recipes seem to be the same but the ingredients, the way of cooking and the quality are definitely to a much lower standard. The starters were okish (jamón seemed this poor quality one you buy at supermarket), but what really disappointed was the paella de marisco, something I have all the time. The fish inside looked frozen and old, the flavour was bland and poor. The ingredients were really of poor and low quality. We just couldn't eat it and left there about 3/4 in the pan and the rest still on the plates. The waiter asked why and we politely explained that we were regular customers and that we did not like it as it was very different than what we were used to. We just asked for the bill and were very surprised that we were charged the full price and they didn't take any measure to rectify the poor quality. I will definitely not go back to this branch and I invite all to consider that this is probably a touristic place not interested in winning the trust of their customers.
Edit: just a standard response from the restaurant. Not acknowledging the facts and replying with lies: the paella was left there in full. For this reason I now go to the minimum score bring also the service gone to...
Read moreWe had a great experience eating here, but everything started going wrong when we saw the bill. For some context, we are tourists and it is our first time eating here. When we first ordered the Paella, the server (bald girl with ponytail) asked if it was for two people. We were confused because there were 3 of us, but since we ordered something else (Fiduea), she said it is better to order Paella for 2, so we just agreed because she was being very nice and hospitable. When we ordered the drinks, we saw Sangria by the glass costs €4.5, so we ordered 2. However, when we got the bill, we saw that for the Paella, we were charged 2 times the cost on the menu (which she did not explain), and for the Sangria by the glass, we were charged €10.50 for one, so €21 for 2 glasses. We were very confused, so we asked her when we got the bill, where can we find the price of €10.50? Because it is not mentioned anywhere on the menu. She had a hard time explaining because clearly, this price is NOT on the menu. She insisted it is “tinto de verano”, when we clearly asked for Sangria by glass. Very disapponting, because we could have ordered just the whole 1 liter (which costs less on the menu, but not sure if they also have their own price that is not mentioned on the menu) of Sangria instead of ordering 2 glasses. Food is great, servers are nice, but be careful! They take advantage of tourists who are unfamiliar with how the menu works in Spain. We feel like we are...
Read more€61.45 Overall…. 100% MEH 👎👎👎👎👎 Tourist trap. They’re too busy to care about quality and the tourists are too stupefied to know what they’re eating. They’re accustomed to just serve and serve and serve and serve. The sangria was good, but €11!!!!! Rediculous.the padrone peppers fantastic, but the entrecôte was lousy… the first time wayyyyyy over cooked. I ordered medium rare and it came out well done. I actually sent it back. The second time the meat was Perfect. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want. BUT….. even though the steak came out perfectly the second time, I then became completely invisible. They cleared my table, took away the water that I paid €2.65 for a bottle of water that the waitress opens and puts the lid in her pocket so that they can refill and sell that bottle of tapwater again and again and again. and then no one checked on me, ever! I wanted my water, oh well. And when I finally flagged someone down and asked for a dessert menu & coffee, I got my coffee and was never asked if I wanted dessert. And sat for so long waiting for a check or any kind of attention I felt like leaving and could probably have done so without...
