Fantastic food, friendly service, very fair prices, and a social atmosphere in a stylish, relaxed restaurant.
Half the menu is vegan, and delicious. There's chicken and beef for those interested though. I recommend to come with friends—the food is made to be shared. You each order a set menu of different dishes and they're served on an injera flatbread (made of teff, which is gluten free) and it gets bigger the more people you share with. Tear some flatbread with your hands, wrap it around some food and dive in. Food tastes better when you eat with your hands, and better again with friends.
The tables are organised so you share just enough space to be private, but can also interact with your fellow diners, so it's good for both options.
I think it must be family owned because every time I've gone, it's the same server and the same kitchen staff. Super friendly people and it's worthwhile to support them. Absolutely...
Read moreA small but clean and inviting space that offers an amazing dining experience. The two vegan combo options are delightful with a variety of flavors and textures. I especially love the pumpkin dish and the lentil dish. I have been back four times now and the food is just as tasty every time. I also appreciate that, when seating people, the staff spaces groups out and only puts people directly next to each other once the restaurant is full enough to necessitate it. This makes for a much more relaxed experience and lower noise levels that allow for great conversations during the meal. It’s also nice that they have an extra hand-washing station outside of the bathroom to use before and after eating since the food is typically eaten with your hands. I tried the chocolate cake for dessert for the first time today and it was also good! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to try Ethiopian food or if you’re looking for a...
Read moreI had high hopes for TaiTU in light of the 4.8 starts it had garnered on Google reviews. Alas the food just did not live up to the ratings. I've eaten Ethiopian food in for countries around the world and it is one of my favorite cuisines. I found the food here to be somewhat flavorless. The doro wat was made with chunks of chicken breast, not the traditional leg, had no egg, and had a mild yellowish sauce with almost no berbere. The miser wat and gomen wat were similarly flavorless. Even the injera was a bit dry and lacked the traditionally slightly fermented flavor that good injera is known for. Having said all this, the portions were generous at a reasonable price and the service was friendly, hence the 3 stars here. It's possible that this restaurant has modified its good to accommodate a Spanish audience that is not used to spices or anything even...
