A bikini, coffee and orange juice are my favorite breakfast combo. This place claims to make an “artisanal” bikini with homemade bread and some fancy ham and cheese for €6,50. This is an outlandish price for a bikini, but I was willing to try something new. I love different interpretations on this simple dish!
And let me tell you, it was horrible.
The “artisanal” bread tasted like it was baked about a week ago. It was very tough and burnt to a crisp outside, scraping the roof of my mouth painfully. The ham inside the bikini was indeed decent, but was completely obscured by three fat slices of cheese which weren’t even melted. Basically, eating this thing felt like eating a block of cheese with stale bread. The whole ordeal was served with wilted arugula which swam sadly in a pool of olive oil. As if you needed more fat in this fat bomb.
To make matters worse, the staff is painfully slow and rather unfriendly. Word of advice: if you’re gonna do overpriced hipster food, at least make sure it doesn’t injure your customers, and consider giving them a smile!
Decent coffee and juice though, but there are better places for that around these...
Read moreOur last night in Barcelona, Catalonia was the pinnacle of what was nothing short of a brilliant trip because of Bar Seco. We'd just arrived from Ibiza and were returning to the States the next day. We stopped here during our evening walk for an espresso and sangria. The atmosphere was nothing short of amazing! Everybody seemed to know each other, as if they were family and that is how they treated us as well. To our Bar Seco friends, we've been unsuccessfully trying to duplicate your sangria, which was the best we'd ever had. Thank you for the amazing chocolate ganache and thank you for the brilliant espresso. But most of all, thank you for being so warm and welcoming and making us feel like family. You made our 40th anniversary so very, very special! William &...
Read moreWe had an excellent meal here tonight. Really nice chilled out atmosphere to the bar, the terrace was full so sat inside. Very friendly staff, with good English and they were happy to indulge my terrible Spanish!
Nice mix of smaller tapas dishes and bigger plates, not a huge range of choices but probably better for it. Everything we had was very good, the beef cheek and the pork ribs the highlights but cheese croquettes and goats cheese salad excellent too. The manchego was only dish that didn't quite reach the same heights......just some slices of cheese on a plate.
Some good, genuine chat with the staff, some excellent tunes playing, and reasonable prices for the food and the drinks meant it felt much more like a neighbourhood bar than a...
