Blai 9 in Barcelona is an absolute gem and a must-visit if you're in the city. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, with a lively yet cozy ambiance that perfectly captures the essence of a true tapas bar. Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite or planning to spend the evening sampling their variety of offerings, you'll feel right at home.
The tapas selection at Blai 9 is nothing short of impressive. They offer a wide variety of creative and delicious options, each more tempting than the last. Every dish is crafted with attention to detail, balancing flavors perfectly to create a memorable dining experience. From classic Spanish bites to more innovative combinations, there's something to satisfy every palate.
A special shoutout to the guy at the bar, who was not only highly professional but also incredibly friendly. His warm and welcoming demeanor made the experience even more enjoyable. He was attentive, quick to offer recommendations, and clearly passionate about what he does, adding a personal touch to the entire visit.
Overall, I highly recommend Blai 9 to anyone looking for an authentic and delightful tapas experience in Barcelona. I will definitely be visiting again on my next trip...
Read moreGenuinely good food, simple but effective. Akin to some other tapas bars, Blai 9 operates in a way that allows you to gauge roughly how much you spend by looking out for different types of mini bowl/plate, and their colours, either black or translucent. You then take your tray, with your empty tapas bowls/plates to the bar so they can add up your total. It appeared good value for money. I got a stool at the bar (with my partner), which was piled high along its entirety with the various tapas dishes, and allows for a good vantage point when deciding what tapas to grab next. Despite the variety on offer, the quickly diminished piles were swiftly topped up as and when, and occasionally swapped out for a new platter of tapas dishes altogether, owing to the diversity of food on offer. Vegetarian? No problem! Only like salmon? Fear not! All in all, the fab tapas combined with not having to sell your left kidney and pretty decent house sangria added up to be a night thoroughly well spent, I'd say this place is a 'don't...
Read moreI've lived in Poble Sec for 10 years now and used to visit here regularly. Blai 9 always used to be fantastic but it's slipped a bit now in my opinion.
The first problem is that pinchos are no longer "help yourself" - not sure if the reasons for this are legal but it's destroyed the quick-eat appeal that they used to have. So much so that after waiting 10 minutes at the bar our friends (with kids) had to leave because the kids were tired and it wasn't the quick solution we were looking for. Secondly, whatever 'system' is in place is not working - several bars on Blai are doing a much better (quicker) job.
This in no way reflects on the staff who were very kind and friendly, but also clearly frustrated with the way things are. The pinchos have gone up in price and down in quality - €1.80 for a 3 inch scotch pancake and a bit of cheese really isn't justifiable.
Air-con was on point!!
It's a shame profit is always put before keeping a...
