It was a lovely and summery afternoon. One of those where even the rain came to bless the city before the sun returned to consecrate this tropical aura that September brings to Barcelona. We were all starving and craving for something a bit more exotic than the typical mediterranean experience, and that's when we decided to go for lunch at Tandoori Nights. Arriving there, we were welcome with a broad yet sincere smile from the person that would become our host that day, Mahon. Mahon realized very quickly that we were a very diverse group so he promptly provided menus in different languages and made himself available to answer our many curious and perhaps ignorant questions. Calmly but decisively, Mahon guided us through all the dishes and just like that, the order was placed, in a process as smooth as a soft creamy murg makhani. When the food finally arrived, the smell of the spices and flavours triumphed the air. The color of the dishes, the sizzle of the plates and the orchestra of smells, provided a show that no money can buy, a delight for all the senses. Let the feast begin! It's hard to describe how can such a simple and humble cuisine can trigger such a spectacular range of feelings and emotions. The richness of the curries, the spiciness of the chillies, the smell of that hot naan, the freshness of the sauces, all of it combined made it definitely an unforgettable memory. I can't help it but coming back in the future and I'll be more than sure to tell all my friends so we can make sure that these honest and modest places that focus solely on providing a good service get the help they need to overcome this crisis. To my bro Mahon, my warmest and...
Read moreIf you have any knowledge/experience with real Indian food, don’t come here. Vacationing in Spain, we were looking for a little taste of home and saw this place had great reviews. As an Indian myself, let me warn you this is not real Indian food. We started with a Tandoori Paneer and while the paneer itself was soft and tasted fresh, it seemed they had just sprinkled some tandoori seasoning on top rather than actually cooking it through with it. Not like true tandoori paneer at all. Second, was the tadka daal. Wow I can’t even describe how terrible this was. The only taste that came through was of turmeric (haldi). The turmeric had not been properly cooked through and was the only flavor in this sad dish. Last, was the butter chicken. Now butter chicken is a classic at any Indian restaurant that is hard to go wrong with. While the dish itself wasn’t bad, it definitely wasn’t butter chicken. It was some weird mix between chicken curry and something else. All in all, we were disappointed at this place not being authentic at all and lacking proper cooking styles. There are many other places around the area that serve...
Read moreWorst food ever. Some of our friends found this place online on our trip to Barcelona because they were craving some good Indian home food. This restaurant is a complete waste of money. We ordered paneer, vegetable biryani, chicken biryani, chicken curry and a lot of different dishes. The breads (naan & chapati) were hard and not edible. The curries were tasteless and bland. It seemed like they just added the spices from the top and served us without putting a second of effort in cooking the dish. We forgave them the first time and asked them to prepare it another time and there was no visible improvement. They did not put salt in any of the dishes and in the name of spicy they just added a spoon of red chilli powder from the top which made it worse. The service was even more pathetic. The waiter kept staring at us when we didn't like the food and was very rude to us. Overall not recommended to anyone, not...
