I visited Tansō Sushi Experience in April 2025 with my husband. We’d seen it on Instagram and thought it looked good. We were wrong. It turned out to be the worst Japanese dining experience we’ve had for a very long time.

We arrived not long after the place opened for the evening sitting. We hadn’t known it was an ‘all you can eat’ menu, but decided to give it a try.

I don’t think we ordered a single dish that we could say was very good. The tuna on my tuna nigiri was poor standard, and the rice was soggy. The vegetable gyoza were barely cooked and just tasted of mush. Gyoza should be nice and crispy from the pan - these were anything but.

My husband is from Taiwan and expects his Asian food to be of the highest standards. His noodles were tasteless. Not even adding chilli oil was able to save it. I’m much more forgiving and will eat almost anything. So for me to leave the rest of the gyoza and tuna nigiri after trying just one of each is pretty unheard of. The service was poor too. The soy sauce pot on the table was empty and we had to ask for a refill. We also had to request wasabi for the nigiri. I’ve never had nigiri served before without wasabi and ginger being provided with it.

Not once did a waiter ask how the food was or if there was a problem, despite it being obvious that we were leaving dishes unfinished.

Even though it was ‘all you can eat’ we didn’t order any more dishes. We paid and left. To say we were disappointed would be an...

Ok - this is by far the worst sushi I have ever had in my life. I would have given zero star if it was an option.

Food - the chef clearly doesn’t know how to make sushi rice and let alone nigiri. The sushi rice was soggy and squeezed to a soggy rice ball with a very thin cut sashimi. The sushi box from Tesco would have tasted better. The beef BBQ had six pathetically small and “dry” (tired) slices of beef. It was the only eatable thing though they weren’t enjoyable at all. We only ordered the first round and couldn’t finish it as I can’t let this bad food ruined my Friday night. We went somewhere else instead.

Service - I can’t say there was any service. It wasn’t busy and the staff weren’t attentive at all. We weren’t given wasabi and ginger when sushi was served. The soy sauce jar was almost empty (bear in mind, we were there at 20:00 and it opens at 19:30). The most annoying thing is the server was surprised we weren’t order the second round and saw we had quite a few food from the first order on the table - they didn’t check if the food was okay or if anything was wrong. It is clear to me they just want to rip off tourists.

Atmosphere- it was okay but the jazz music was odd to a Japanese restaurant. Staff were half asleep and the restaurant doesn’t come across clean or hygienic.

I don’t know how they got 4.5 stars, I definitely will read reviews more carefully in the future and not to be fooled by the...

One of the worst dining experiences ever. We had our table booked for 9:30pm and we were not served until nearly 40 mins after we sat down. With the buffet menu you can order up to four dishes per person. The food took extremely long to arrive, and by the time maybe our second/third dish arrived, we were told the kitchen was closing. So we ordered our ‘next round’ of four dishes. However, at this point it was just past 11pm and we were still waiting for the rest of our first round of food to arrive. We had to ask for wasabi, no ginger was offered with our sashimi. The miso soup arrived with no veg or tofu inside so we asked for a new one. The gyoza was still half frozen at the top. By this time we were all so hungry and tired of waiting and the poor service. We were told the kitchen was making the food so we can take it home, but who knows how long we would’ve been waiting for. The waiters said it was slow because it was very busy tonight. However the food itself and the whole experience was just not worth paying 3 people’s worth of buffet price. We offered to pay for 2 people’s worth because of all the mishaps and lack of food that arrived but the owner was adamant the food was all on its way and that we had eaten most of the food. In the end she only took our drinks off the bill. Very...
