Can Kai — Restaurant in Begur

Absolutely the best restaurant in Begur. The food is incredible: the edamame blew my mind; the gyoza was supreme; and the tempura/mushroom soup was the tastiest, most rich and complex soup I’ve ever had in my life. Our server was a total delight: charming and funny and extremely helpful when it came to deciding which of the many tantalizing menu options to choose. And the space is warm, inviting, and beautiful. Probably the best vegetarian food I’ve had in Catalonia (but also the carnivores in my party said it was the best sushi they’d ever had). Daft that anyone gives this place fewer than five stars. Great sushi place, I went here with wife and 2 children. We are big sushi lovers. And can safely say if your craving for good sushi this is the perfect place to go to if your near Begur.

Staff where very accommodating for our children(their not big fans of full raw sushi) and so they had it flambeed and served it with a bowl of tasty rice for our boys.

The only thing they could not accommodate was to serve my sake warm(the way I like it it's a personal preference ok, don't judge me! )

Creo que es importante que cuando unos clientes llegan al restaurante se les reciba en la puerta. Estuvimos esperando un buen rato sin que nadie viniera a recibirnos y a decirnos cuál era nuestra mesa a pesar de que nos habían visto. No hubo ningún gesto de “ahora vamos” o “un momentito”.

Por otro lado, el encargado de sala que nos tomó nota y se equivocó dos veces: la primera, nos trajo una copa de vino cuando habíamos pedido una botella. No pasa nada, cosas que ocurren. La segunda, un poco más grave. Le dijimos “para cenar pediremos sólo uramakis”. Y empezamos a dictarle los nombres de los uramakis: doble tonyina, peix mantega, especial salmó y anguila. Después nos dijo: “¿no queréis algún entrante?”. A lo que respondimos: “no, merci, solo los uramaki”.

Pues al cabo de un rato largo nos trajo un plato que al parecer se llamaba “anguila a la brasa”. Le dijimos que no lo habíamos pedido y nos lo rebatió. Nos dijo que le habíamos pedido “Anguila a la brasa”. Nos sentimos un poco disgustados, incomodados y cuestionados, ya que fuimos bastante claros y explícitos al pedirle la comida diciendo “solo tomaremos uramakis” y dictándole los nombres que habíamos elegido. Terminó diciendo “veuré què puc fer”. Nos hubiera gustado que nos pidiese disculpas y que en vez de decirnos “veré qué puedo hacer” nos hubiera dicho: “no se preocupen, señores, ahora mismo se lo cambio”. Estos detalles marcan la diferencia en un aparentemente restaurante top. Le pongo dos estrellas al servicio por este motivo, a pesar de que la atención de las camareras fue excelente.
