La Despensa Familiar Torrequebrada — Restaurant in Benalmádena

We are regular visitors to the Despensa familiar en Avenida de las Palmeras for years and have enjoyed the food and service. When the despensa opened in Torrrequebrada we were happy and thought it is a great addition but unfortunately we have been there now several times hoping for the same good food and service but have been dissappointed each time by either the food and most times of the service. The waiters make frequent errors, forget meals, charge wrong tables, ignore clients for long periods while having chats between them etc. At one time when we were a big group having dinner the waitress told us to leave after eating because there were other people waiting for a table (we had been having a normal dinner and they never told us the table was reserved, which it was not). We were just about to order dessert but they did not even ask if we wished dessert. The way of talking to us by the waitress was extremely rude and she should not work there if you wish to improve the quality ( the girl with fringe hair). Very disappointing experience. I visited on the 23rd of October for lunch. I’ve been here many times in the past the food has always been excellent, and the staff friendly but unfortunately, this time was completely different.

When we arrived on the terrace, the first waiter completely ignored us. After I asked for a table, he still didn’t respond and continued chatting with a friend who was selling coupons, interrupting our conversation and treating us as if we weren’t there. Eventually, we were offered a small table for six people, which was clearly too tight. Later, another staff member told us that table was actually reserved, and offered yet another small one.

When I asked if we could join two tables together, the waiter refused, saying it “wouldn’t be profitable” despite there being plenty of free tables, most of them occupied by only two guests.

It’s a real shame that two rude and unprofessional employees can ruin what used to be such a pleasant place with great food. Sadly, after this experience, I won’t be...

We had a first drink and all was going good and we wanted to spend more on this place but…till…we asked gently the waiter if we could have some ham, other drinks and more and he looked at us very angry saying “one minute please!” in the sense we were CLEARLY disturbing him in what is supposed to be HIS job…as a result we asked the bill and didn’t order so they lost at least 20-30€ instead they got only 5€ for our drinks…as a result money lost for the restaurant and bad comments.
