The Drunken Sailor — Restaurant in Benalmádena

Superb spot on the beach front. Views are spectacular. Im Scottish and when going abroad i can be quite fussy in terms of getting a full proper british/scottish breakfast. A lot of people falsely advertise to get you on a seat and get your money. But when we went to The Drunken Sailor we were blown away with various aspects. Firstly the location is second to none, best views around. The staff are very friendly and love a laugh and banter with the customers. We also went here for an evening meal which was sublime and the price is very very cheap which was suprising as it is by far the best scottish place for food and banter. Do proper tattie scones when they have them in which was a god-send. Sylvia and Bobby were amazing hosts and what a laugh we all had. We will be back again in March and we will even take tattie scones over for them as we know how much they mean to the scottish customers coming over. i normally dont do reviews for anywhere when abroad because 99/100 places are the same in terms of layout, staff, food, price etc. This is the one exception. Everything was amazing, location, staff, menu, food, prices, banter. Superb all round. We all loved your fine establishment and we will be back EVERY time we are over. I've came back to edit this after reading other peoples reviews!! I personally think its absolutely SHOCKING for this business to receive 1 star reviews based on ex customers turning up and its new owners!!! This isn't the new owners fault at all and its nothing except disgusting that these reviews impact on this business' trust pilot score. This business was bought during covid and this impacted everyone worldwide. Obviously it was tough for the previous owners to sustain their business like millions others worldwide. But to come on and give a 1 star review because the old owners sold the place in hard times, well honestly, get a grip!! I'd advise the one star brigade to go try the place now and see how well its done after covid and under new management. I wish i could give more stars tbh. The only negative i can say is that we had a bit of a wait for our meals. And the only reason for this was because the place was packed with customers all wanting a nice meal. Well worth the wait. July 2025 Third year coming here so not much to add to previous comments on how friendly and fun this restaurant/bar is. However, I just thought I'd mention that somehow they have raised the bar with their home-made chilli nachos. You can't beat a shared bowl, with a couple of Pina Coladas, a great view and very friendly atmosphere.

August 2024 Back again and I'm pleased to report that nothing has changed and its just as friendly as last year and attracts a friendly crowd. Bobby's delicious Pina Coladas are still amazing but beware, they deceptively strong (my wife's 3 hour sleep after just 2 is proof enough). A great place to visit, with a great view and a great atmosphere. See you in 2025

August - 2023 It’s right above the beach with excellent views, the food is spot on, the cocktails are amazing, and decent prices. On top of that, the owners Bobby and Sylvia and staff are so friendly and fun and treat all like family. You must try Bobby’s version of a Pina Colada (not just ice and a wisp of alcohol like some other bars) but a proper drink made with care...

Visited today with my wife and young daughters for lunch. It was busy but they managed to find us a table out of the sun which was very much appreciated. All the staff were incredibly friendly, the place had a great atmosphere with stunning sea views. The drinks arrived quickly, we ordered the food and one of the team brought my daughters a mini connect 4, suggesting the have a competition (amazing) my girls loved it. They played happily whilst the food was prepared. Food came and was exactly as ordered looked and tasted great. Once finished and paid, which was great value at £32 for the four of us and drinks, the staff gave my kids some sweets and an ice pop each. Truly amazing service the likes of which I have not experienced for a long time. As any parent knows holidays are about your kids having a great time. Above and beyond is an understatement. My kids won’t stop talking about their experience. A massive thanks to the team. Highly recommend....
