If you are looking for a broad selection of authentic Spanish tapas (without a foreign twist) there are not many places to choose from in this area. But don't dispare. If you are in the area and looking for tapas, this is the place to go. At first glance this place is not chic or super fancy decorated. It has plastic chairs outside and everything is quite basic. But don't be fooled. This is not the typical tourist restaurant where you get dry schnitzel with ready made French fries and the standard "oh so depressing " non imaginative salad containing iceberg lettuce, tomato and cucumber. No. They serve delicious and affordable tapas, among other things. You can order a lot of different tapas dishes without having to worry that it you cannot afford to pay your electricity bill when you get home. The service is very good and they do their best to make sure they have satisfied clients without being to pushy. We had a lovely evening there yesterday out until late at night. We sat for hours and hours, just ordering more and more food and the waiter was happy to accommodate us even though we a this point where the only guests left. We had two big bottles of water, three large jugs of dagerously good sangria, bread and alioli, patatas bravas, shrimps in garlic sauce, calamares ala romana, grilled cuttlefish, steamed mussels, two rounds of Spanish meatballs, beef with garlic potatoes, two rounds of serrano ham croquettes, and other dishes which I at this point can't remember anymore. But the whole food feast with drinks included ended at 80 euros. Fantastic! And the best part was the each and every dish was delicious and made from scratch. We did not book a table in advance but I would recommend it as it sometimes is a lot of...
Read moreAnother hidden Spanish gem found. This time in Benijófar. Hidden from the street so you kind of need to know it’s there. Was there first for paella and it was delicious. Since it was not a busy night they made it for 1 person. On busy night it’s like anywhere else minimum 2 persons. Went back tonight to try some more. Tried the menu of the day that includes bread with aioli, a salad, main dish, dessert or coffee and a glass of wine, small beer or soda. I added a tapas as well so got all this for 20€. The food is so delicious and true Spanish. All is homemade. So much stuff on the walls that creates a great...
Read moreLove this place. Proper original Spanish owners, which are so friendly and great with the kids, making us feel more of family than a customer. The atmosphere and the food is great. The 'cheaper' deal meals are still fine and full of flavour, but the paella and tapas dishes are superb. Been several times and the paella is consistently good. I recomend the mixed paella, seafood soup as these where so tasty, even though the restaurant was busy a d was all resevered, they still got us a...
