Bar Rotterdam — Restaurant in Bilbao

Nice little restaurant tucked away near old town. Food was very tasty but took a long time to arrive (there were just 3 of us) so Bear this in mind if you want faster service. There seemed to be only one chef cooking on the Monday night we were there, so this could be why. Nice lady who took our orders didn't speak any English and we can only speak a little Spanish so the starter was wrong for one of us but rectified pretty quickly. Beef cheeks were delicious but didn't come with anything else as an accompaniment, just the cheeks in sauce so could've done with 3 cheeks rather than 2 . The steak was delicious, it came out pretty rare and I wasn't asked how well-cooked I wanted it, but I don't mind rare on occasion and it was delicious but if you don't like rare then you might need to tell them how you prefer it cooked - again it didn't come with a side of anything, no chips or salad, just a couple of slivers of red pepper and the jeu. We had to go to the bar ourselves to order more drinks (we only had 3 drinks each anyway) but I wouldve thought we would have been asked if we wanted an extra drink as we clearly had empty glasses and there were only two other tables of people eating so it wasn't busy and we sat very central to where the server/s were... Overall tasty food that would probably be classed as fine dining but at a cheaper cost at Rotterdam, with less bustling atmosphere in a Monday evening and service could have been better.By being more attentive. We paid 40 each which included a 15 euro tip, the white wine was nice, they also do 0% alcohol too. Starters around 11 euros and mains around 14...

A bit disappointing experience considering the great expectations.

Asked for the possibility to dine in a table when the available empty ones were already reserved. Were gladly guided to another dining room. Cool.

Food was alright: traditional recipes, product of suitable quality but the execution lacked cuddle (oily scramble, too dry fish textures and poor quantity) for its price.
