If your stomach isn't strong, then don't risk it. We should have known better when we only saw tourists eating here. The two server ladies are nice, and I appreciate them for trying to correct the fails of the chef.
The water that you pay for is just tap water that has been reused in bottles so often that the print is falling off (picture added). Also the oil expired TWO YEARS ago (picture).
We ordered fish that must have been sitting out in the heat too long because it had a very strong unpleasant smell. The large amount of oil didn't help. The mixed vegetables came from a freezer bag. They were still frozen inside. The potatoes were so old and refried that I couldn't even chew or cut them with a knife. I even called our server over to demonstrate this.
Then we had the octopus with the same frozen veggies. They used instant potato mix, that was so liquidy that it was impossible to eat with a fork and only served as being a puddle. Then there was aioli dip which was squeezed from a bottle and useless.
For a restaurant to serve expired items and can't even chop their own vegetables, or knows how to defrost them in the microwave. I think this 1 star is...
Read moreI had lunch at Kasko during my visit to Bilbao and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a cozy spot right in the heart of the old town (Casco Viejo), with a relaxed vibe and great service.
What stood out the most for me were the tapas and pintxos—all really tasty, well-presented, and with generous portions. You can tell they put care into both the flavor and the look of each dish.
I also tried their menu del día, which was honestly one of the best deals I’ve found in the city. For around 16 euros (a bit more on weekends), it included a starter, main course, dessert, bread, plus wine and water—all included in the price. The options were varied and everything I tried was delicious. It’s a great way to enjoy proper local food without spending a fortune.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend Kasko if you’re in Bilbao. Whether you go for a few pintxos at the bar or sit down for a full lunch, it’s a place that delivers on quality, price,...
Read moreA very busy restaurant with many covers. I chose the restaurant for dinner as it was full at lunchtime with what appeared to be local Spanish, so I thought that was a good sign. By dinner time we were both hungry so chose the salad with tuna and the 1kg sirloin to share. Salad was lovely. Sirloin was extremely tough. After a lot of chewing it became tiresome and and unenjoyable. We left about half. I complained to the waitress in Spanish through Google Translate and she just shrugged her shoulders. We have travelled through Northern Spain for the last 14 days and had beef steak twice before, which was outstanding. This was inedible. Bad choice on our part, but after reading latest reviews of others there are many other 1 star...
