Restaurante Isla Sicilia Bilbao. Con y Sin Gluten. — Restaurant in Bilbao

I’ve waited 2 weeks before posting a review and here we go…….. Booked a table for opening time of 730. Got there for 734 and we were shown to our table for 6 in a totally empty restaurant. No sooner had we sat down, then we were asked to move? As that table was booked for 830….. No problem we said. We didn’t know that drinks AND food had to be ordered at the service area so by the time we asked? It was 805pm….. Drinks arrived And we went to order our pizzas…. I ordered a lovely looking ‘smoked salmon’ pizza…… The main course salad of a diner arrived 15 mins before our pizzas…… And now the main bit…… My pizza arrived last and looked really nice albeit slightly underdone…….(I prefer my pizzas done for a minute extra) I cut it down the middle where a piece of cheese was still firm……. Pizza was cold in the middle….

Sent it back and they said I could have a fresh one (as it had smoked salmon and rocket added) So they did me a fresh one….. I asked the young waiter (who spoke good English) ‘uno minuto más porfa para la pizza’?

It came cold in the middle again……

I took it back and explained to just take off the rocket and salmon and give it a blast in the oven…???🙏

No, they wanted to make me another….😡

I told them to forget it.

Now the kick in the teeth. 905pm (sat at the table for 90 mins), we all had a half pint of beer left or so and…..?

A female member of staff asked us to hurry up with our drinks as the people needing our table had arrived early…..🤦‍♂️🤯😡

Red rag to a bull I’m afraid….

I went up to the cashiers desk and asked the original young man that served us what was going on.????? He basically replied and said ‘ah yes, sorry to let you know you only had the table for an hour’

In a calm, English voice, I basically told them that they should maybe learn some restaurant etiquette regarding the treatment of customers and that the way we have just been treat was of a very poor standard….

The bill of €78.40 arrived with NO discount for the sub par service (my pizza was not on the bill) Cash left of exactly €78.40 in the smallest denomination of Spanish coins we had.

What a shame, as this was the last of our 4 nights in Bilbao, and having seen the photos of the pizzas on the website? We were really looking forward to a great dining experience. Unfortunately, on this occasion, we didn’t get it in either way shape or form from...

We ordered a pizza for delivery from their website. First of all, they didn't consider my comment about using a mozzarella without lactose or removing the mozzarella if they didn't have it (I am lactose intolerant). Second, the pizza (without gluten for me and with gluten for my husband) was comparable to a frozen pizza. I am italian and you cannot claim to do gourmet pizza or even normal pizza with this quality. Also the price is abysmal for the quality. 17 euro for a pizza and of this quality is stealing. Honestly, I am amazed at the 4.3 in Google and 5 stars in "Find me gluten free". I am not sure we can trust reviews...

Teníamos una reserva a las 22:00, a las 22:08 hemos realizado la comanda y a las 22:58 todavía no nos habían servido, nos hemos acercado a preguntar y no sabían ni dónde estaba la comanda. Su respuesta ha sido que se les ha juntado todo, cosa que no es problema de los clientes. A las 23:08 después de una hora de espera, todavía no nos habían traído las pizzas y hemos vuelto a acercarnos al mostrador, puesto que estábamos viendo que servían a mesas que habían llegado más tarde que nosotros y a muchos repartidores a domicilio que llegaban, por esta razón hemos pedido la cuenta con lo que habíamos consumido y una hoja de reclamaciones. La respuesta ha sido que no tienen (cosa que es ilegal puesto que todos los establecimientos deben tenerla y no pueden negársela a sus clientes) y que pongamos una reseña. Les hemos insistido y han intentado llamar a la encargada y al dueño para preguntar pero como no han respondido, no han sabido darnos una solución. Me parece vergonzoso que atiendan pedidos por encima de sus posibilidades, entregando pedidos a domicilio sin tener tiempo para poder servir a los comensales que están en el mismo restaurante. Teniendo en cuenta el precio que tienen las pizzas y el servicio que ofrecen me parece que no es un local que merezca la pena, conociendo las diferentes alternativas en Bilbao con mucho mejor servicio a sus clientes. Y no me refiero a que sea caro porque puede que sus ingredientes sean de muy buena calidad, a lo que me refiero es a que con ese precio el servicio debería ser impecable. De la calidad de las pizzas no puedo hablar porque por desgracia no pudimos probarlas. Además de todo esto había una mesa en la que los comensales estaban montando muchísimo jaleo y ningún trabajador les llamó la atención a pesar de que estaban molestando a todas las personas que nos encontrábamos allí.
