My son and I had a long drive from Porto and arrived at the Lurrina Restaurant at 10 PM on Sunday, an hour before the restaurant closed. We were the only patrons.
To be mindful of the time, we scanned the English version of the menu, asked for recommendations, and went with what our server, Frank, recommended. His recommendations did not disappoint us, including the wine, Lar de Paula Merus 2016, which went well with everything we had.
Though late, the bread was good, with a crunchy crust and soft center. He served this with some patté, an amuse bouche, gratis. Followed by a salad with fried goat cheese, and scallops on a soft bed of polenta. A wonderful pairing.
My son had the sirloin steak, and it came sliced against the grain and rare. I had Hake on sautéed vegetables, topped with a bit of seaweed. My hake was delicious, and my son enjoyed his steak, too.

After that we had pork loin that was melt-in-your-mouth tender and a beef loin that was barely rare, sliced on a bed of mashed potatoes. So they were expecting us to fully finish one single plate before they would bring the next one. That was very weird and they could have just asked if we want it this way.
