Restaurante Cortijo Paco — Restaurant in Cómpeta

Everything about this place is positive: the atmosphere, the view, the service, the staff and most importantly the quality of the food. And all this at a very good price! We arrived yesterday evening at this place and despite Spanish restaurants being reluctant to allow pets, I was pleasantly surprised that my little dog was allowed inside. Other patrons later arrived as well with a dog and there was no problem at all. As a starter we shared a tuna tartar with spicy sauce and avocados that happened to be served in a generous amount with a very nice presentation and exquisite taste. My partner ordered the pork which was delicious so she told me, and I had a wonderfully cooked and very tasty filet of beef. The meat was served with freshly barbecued vegetables and French fries. I took a glass of red house wine (Ribera del Duero) and ended up having five or six more glasses as the evening continued 😉. Also due to the fact that we had an interesting and nice discussion with a couple at the neighbouring table. All in all it was a very delightful evening in a very cosy and well designedrestaurant, not to mention that the bathrooms were spotlessly clean as well. Two years ago I visited this restaurant and was happy with the experience. This vacation I was really excited to show this restaurant to my family who came with us. I booked a table the day before to make sure everything would be ok. We waited an hour for the food. I thought the main reason for the long wait was that we were a group of eight and it was difficult to prepare the food for all of us at the same time. We got seven dishes, my dish - fish was quite cold. Seven people finished their food and the eighth still did not get their food. We were really disappointed because the restaurant is not cheap and is considered one of the best in Competa. We expected everything to be professional. When I approached the waiter and asked to speak to the manager, the waiter said OK and went to the kitchen. Magically she came back with the missing food. The whole situation made us nervous, our evening was ruined. And although the food is not bad there, the restaurant is nicely located, we probably will not go...

We didn't have a great experience here last night. The evening was spoiled but excessive waiting times for service. Firstly we waited well over 30 minutes just to get a menu after being seated. Then it took at least 40 until we had our starters, and even longer until we had our main courses. The food itself was very good when it did arrive, with exceptional taste. The portion sizes were a little on the small side for the fillet steak and chips that I had however. The service during the meal was also a little lacking, having to ask for things a couple of times on occasion. Overall, it put a dampener on what would have been lovely food in a great setting by having to wait so long for service. I would be hesitant to recommend this place based on our experience...
