Plaza Emporiyum — Restaurant in Calvià

Let's start with the positive aspects. First of all, I like the atmosphere of Plaza Emporiyum. They have good music, big TVs showing football and UFC. Also, the concept is pretty great. Essentially it is a food court consisting of circa 5 kitchens and a shared eating area. This means that there's plenty to choose from.

Now to the negative aspects of Plaza Emporiyum. The menu was terribly misleading. One example is the carbonara which was said to consist of guanciale, black pepper, pecorino romano and "egg yolk cream". Sounds really authentic, right? Well, as it turns out, they also put a lot of heavy cream into the sauce, which completely ruins the flavor and demolishes the authenticity of the dish. When trying to order, we also discovered that at least two of the kitchens were closed. I'm sure there were reasons for this, but the fact that we weren't informed that almost half of the menu was unavailable is a major minus. Some dishes from the available kitchens weren't even possible to order.

I went to celebrate my birthday with my friends and the truth is that the experience was very disappointing. From the moment they sat us down at a broken table (I had to put my plate on the corner of the table, because if I put it in front of me, the plate would tilt) to the payment system that, instead of being able to put everything together on one ticket, each person had to pay for their own food at each stall and drinks went separately. Sushi Stand: Closed Vaccu: Stressed staff, they denied us service or we had to wait at least an 1 hour. I ended up ordering a burrata salad from the Italyum stand that took 45 minutes and when I asked a waiter to check for me, I got huffed at... shamefull and embarrasing. I do not recommend this...

I can’t speak for the rest of the food, but the “carbonara” pasta was completely disappointing and far from authentic. It was just plain pasta served with a cream sauce — nothing more. The dish had no real flavor, the portion was small, and overall, it was tasteless and unappetizing.

The service was decent, but I noticed the waitress touched the eating part of the fork with her hands, which seemed unhygienic.

The prices are quite high considering the poor quality of the food. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also far from cozy or pleasant.

I wouldn’t return and definitely wouldn’t recommend this...
