VIVO! — Restaurant in Calvià

I visited here for a evening meal with my son. The service was OK but I had issues with this place that didn't need to happen. I ordered bread which comes with alio and olives and my son ordered soup to start . We also ordered the mains and pints of larger. Both lagers came with a massive head on them and we had to ask for them to be topped up which was done but with a little attitude. My bread came along with my sons soup .we asked for some bread with the soup and they brought it , with our mains we ordered a small bottle of still water which came in there own bottles which had been filled and cooled . The food was fantastic. When the bill came we were charged for 2 lots of bread even though the second portion was for the soup , came without alio and olives both charged at the same price ontop of the soup at 2.90 , the small water in there own bottles at 5.90 and the beers with massive heads on all just wind me up as a cost cutting rip off . Had this being done correctly the restaurant would not only of got 5 stars but a tip of 10 plus added . I have lived in Mallorca over 6 years and Santa Ponsa for 2 of them so I have been to Vivo at least 50 times~ and 46 or 47 of these visits have been fantastic! The last 3 or 4 times it has been quite the opposite! First of all I have to say most of the staff are amazing particularly Tony and Victor, they are great and will always be great! The food has good downhill! The schnitzel the last 2 times which was my favourite is not what it used to be and in fact one of the worst I have had lately. So we still came and ordered the duck today and it was dry, overcooked and the usual gravy it comes with was like water. We sent it back and the waiter was very nice and agreed to we changed to the goulash. It arrived and looked great but it was cold and not room temperature cold but cold like it came from the fridge! We asked the waiter if there is a new cook and he told us yes since 10 days which was no surprise! The owner (and I forget her name) is always very nice but I think she tends more to the new Vivo Beach. It is really disappointing to us as Vivo is a was a go to place for many years but we will not return but...

First of all: the food in this place is outstanding! Compliments to the chef & kitchen crew, you really have amazed us. But why only three stars!? Well....service was volatile and not up to the standard of the place and food. We were here twice during one week. On the first evening the greeting from one of the two service guys was quite cold - at least there was any. Also, waiting at the table was quite uncommunicative and dry (one word questions and answers). We thought ok, maybe they had a rough evening so the mood is bad today, give him the benefit of the doubt. As the food was really, really good, we decided to give it another try. What to say, we were lucky that there was a third service crew member, a lady, on this evening. Same two guys were also on, did not even greet / reply to us when saying hello. One of them, again in a very grumpy mood- so this seems to be the regular state he is in. Makes you feel not very welcome as a guest.
