My wife and I just left this restaurant cafe and were totally shocked with the terrible service we received. We arrived at 7:50pm wanting to have something to eat. After a short wait the waitress looked like she was all alone so I went up to the bar and ordered a bottle of red wine. She motioned to me she would be with us in a short bit. I thought she would bring over a wine list but she just brought a bottle of red wine and presented it like this was it. Didn't offer let us taste it, choose anything else; just opened and plunked it down and spilled the wine over the edge if the bottle while she was at it. We were then told that the kitchen didn't open till 9pm. Fair enough we waited and sipped our wine. At around 8:30 I went over and asked to look at a food menu in anticipation of 9 pm and she gave me one. My wife and I sat there for another 30 minutes. When 9pm came she completely ignored us and served several other tables that came in after us instead and walked by us several times and completely ignored us. We finally got frustrated and decided to leave and go some where else. Without a doubt this was the worst service we have had in our travels in Spain and if you are in Cartagena we would strongly recommend you avoid Larvi Cafe. There are lots of other options for you in Cartagena so don't waist your time and money. Very sincerely Donna...
Read moreMy husband and I discovered Larvi while looking for something a bit more local than the main street restaurants in Cartegena. We were not there for a meal, just for some drinks and appetizers with our family. We were delighted with the food (excellent cheese plate that included toasted almonds and olives) and the wine (many more options than just "blanco o tinto"). Even better than the food and wine was the service. We were greeted very warmly by Aurora, a charming, open and friendly person who made us feel welcome and at ease despite our poor efforts at speaking the language. We think that she and her brothers own the restaurant (although our Spanish was not sophisticated enough to fully confirm that). We loved the experience and will return there when we are back in Cartagena. In fact, the restaurant is itself a...
Read moreThe place tries hard to be like a gourmet restaurant and have a special menu with exclusive dishes. In fact the choice is limited to 4 main dishes, the portions are quite small, and the service is not always friendly (maybe because we are English-speaking, it was very hard to find common language, so should drink green tea instead of red one) Although the products are fresh, we personally did not wait long for our order, the dessert at the end was so vedic that we shared it for two. The place definitely stands out among the touristy surroundings, and we didn't regret coming here. A bonus is the opportunity to sit opposite Santa...
