Another favourite old haunt from years ago. It was run by two brothers back in the day. Yucca has certainly changed in the interim. Less casual than the old days but all the better for it. Crisp white tablecloths, very nice little touches such as table decorations and little oil lamps giving a warm, welcoming glow to the tables. Another great addition is a wood-fired grill, which adds to the ambiance and draws you in as well as being a great way to cook good food. There is something very primal about food cooked over wood or charcoal that I love. I opted for the pulled pork, roasted on the grill. It came on a bed of the smoothes creamed potato, topped with glorious crackling surrounded by an artistic swirl of perfectly portioned apple sauce. It's a long way from the more "traditional" tourist fare of old and definitely more high end and authentically traditional Menorcean food with a modern twist and presentation. Absolutely flawless execution, flavours balanced to perfection. Just absolutely delicious. It was the first evening of my Dad travelling from the UK and joining my son and I for our last seven days there. We decamp to Menorca every year and I really wanted to take Dad somewhere nice on his first night. Yucca was a place Mum loved to stop off on their wanderings and this was the first time Dad had been back to the island since Mum passed away in 2019. Couldn't have been happier with my choice of restaurant. Both my son and Dad absolutely loved what they ordered. Again, you could see all dishes were of exceptional quality and presented with the flair of a Michelin worthy kitchen. Excellent wine list, something for all tastes and pockets. Reasonably priced beer. Exceptional service. Service as it should be, elegant, charming, flawless. At the suggestion of our lovely waitress, I had the dessert special of the day, made onsite as you'd expect, a traditional pumpkin tart. Now my ex..ex mother-in-law, (ooo, that sounds bad) who was Danish, made a beautiful pumpkin pie, but this pumpkin recipe by Yucca was off the planet good. It is indescribable, had nothing you could adequately compare it to ever. It ranks up there as one of the best dishes...
Read moreI was a little unprepared for the prevalence of egg and chips style eating opportunities afforded by the local area. Obviously this area is dominated by the package holiday crowd but surely it's not all about eating English food in a hot location?
Las Yucas was a welcome oasis among all the offerings of fish and chips and Yorkshire pudding and gravy you will find populating the main drag. Following Lauren's lead I also opted for the fillet steak and it really was a fabulous piece of meat. Cooked to perfection with that unmistakable BBQ charcoal flavour, it really was a cracking piece of steak.
Someone else had the T bone, which came on its own mini BBQ grill, complete with charcoals and he also extolled the virtues of his meat.
The vegetation selection available was good and both girls enjoyed their dishes. We all agreed that this had been our best meal on the island to date.
On the final night we returned and they didn't disappoint. Once again the service was excellent and the food just as good as the first time around. I pigged out on a chateaubriand all to myself. It was served up exceptionally well, sliced up by the waiter before my very eyes. Once it was in front of me I struggled to even pay attention to anyone else's food but they all assure me it was really good.
Based on my first visit I would have given them 4* but having had such good food and service in consecutive visits pushed me over the edge, they totally deserve all 5*s. I've eaten worse steak for two or three times the money in the UK. These guys are totally at one with the BBQ. BBQ ninjas...
Read moreUpon arrival we were impressed by the lovely ambiance provided by the beautiful garden in the back and also appreciated the speedy service when it came to ordering and recieving our drinks. However, after ordering our food the service deteriorated and we waited longer than one would expect for the price of the meal. This would have been ok if not for the fact that when the food did arrive it wasnt even very impressive. The steak did not taste like it had been cooked on a barbeque as promised and was quite fatty for a sirloin costing upwards of 20 euros. The portion sizes were also slightly small due to the fact that only a bit of sliced potato was offered beside the meat. There was a ride range of deserts that stemmed from different configurations of ice cream and the ones we had weren't anything special. Overall, it was a very attractive resurant with a nice seating area but simply too...
