Restaurante Grill Es Caliu — Restaurant in Ciutadella

Good lord. I’ll be chasing the high of that steak for the rest of my life. I pinned this restaurant before coming to Menorca because it looked traditional and had good ratings. We are staying in Cala N Bosch and this is quite near off the main road to the old town. We passed it a few times on the way to Ciutadella and I remembered the pin.

We are a family of four; two teenage sons, two adults. We ordered Entrecôte x3 and one veal kebab. The seating is lovely, outdoor dining but nice and cool after sunset. It was not too busy on a Tuesday evening, a few families and couples dining. So not noisy, just relaxed and easy to chat. The waiters were lovely, very friendly and welcoming. One had a fairly spectacular moustache. The drinks and food were delivered quickly. I wish I’d taken a photo to show you but honestly I started eating immediately 🤣

Rafa was attentive and our food came out to our table surprisingly fast which was perfect because we were with our two girls. My wife wasn’t very hungry but she ended up eating more than she has in days because the food was underrated and better than we expected. My daughters ordered the chicken breast and the chicken nuggets, both we fantastic. My wife ordered the veil kebab and it was flavorful, cooked perfectly (medium) and she loved the side of potato with the garlic sauce! I ordered the 30 day aged steak and it was enough for two people to share. It was a little undercooked and Rafa immediately returned the dish to the kitchen and then delivered me my steak and it was cooked perfection. Rafa made us feel welcome and completely at ease for requesting a little more cook time. The ambience is relaxing and suitable for children. I love finding places like this one. We brought the whole family (two girls 5 &2y/o) out for dinner for our last night here in Menorca and we couldn’t have chosen a better spot. The food was prepared quickly and it was the best meal we had during our week-long stay. We ordered the chicken for the kids with a side of French fries and pan y tomate. I ordered the veil kebab (cooked to perfection) and my husband ordered the 30day aged ribeye and he was in absolute heaven!! We shared ice cream for desert and a little melon. We were so pleased with Rafa, our attentive waiter that we went inside to pay our complements for the great service & amazing food and we were pleased to meet the owner, Luis and were kindly introduced to the entire family.
