If you go to Elche and don't eat here, you are wrong. This place is THE PLACE where food was created and you must go there if you want to understand what real food means.

We asked for arroz con costra as main, with ham croquettes and a squid a la plancha. Everything is delicious, the croquettes are just unbelievably tasty and I could eat 24 myself if given the chance. The squid was fantastic and the costra was perfect. Not dry, not too big, just great.

The restaurant decoration is really local, focused on bullfighting and it sports a really well done classic style, old school Spanish casa de comidas. Comimos muy bien, la comida buena y el arroz con costra en su punto, pero llegó el turno de los cafés, preguntamos si hacían "cremaet" y nos dijeron que si, pedimos tres, ya al pedirlos me dijo el camarero que si yo también (yo que soy mujer y las otras dos personas que lo pidieron hombres) a lo que le contesté que si que yo quería un cremaet Sacan el café para la otra persona y les sirven a los dos hombres los dos cremaet y me vuelve a preguntar que si yo también quería un cremaet, a lo que le vuelvo a decir por tercera vez que si, y me responde: "Te voy a hacer un cremaet especial" y al rato me trae un cremaet según él, que resultó que no lo era y sirvió un carajillo ( los que hayan probado un cremaet sabrán que no es lo mismo ni por casualidad) Esto podría quedarse en una anécdota pues la pena es que la comida es buenisima pero que se hagan estas diferencias hoy en día entre hombres y mujeres me parece muy mal y no voy a entrar en más polémica pero considero que hay que denunciar estos hechos y más cuando se hizo adrede. Si vas a un establecimiento y vendes un producto y yo lo pago no entiendo que me discrimines por mi sexo y des por hecho que ni se lo que he pedido ni mucho menos que decidas si puedo o no...

Maybe a bit too "authentic". Very nice food and tasty "arroz a banda". "Typical Spanish" decoration (bullheads, bullfighters, images of the virgen María, etc) but also overkill of Spanish flags (worried about Catalan independence movement?), but a small image of the old Spanish fascist flag used during Franco reveals the real political preference...
