If you're in Frigiliana or anywhere in the Nerja region, you've got to try La Taperia. It became our go-to spot during our stay in Spain.
The food here is fantastic - the menu is well rounded for all diets and every dish we tried was so well done. The homemade bread, falafel, and that delicious Moroccan-style baklava (with secret ingredients that the chef sources from Marocco) are must-tries.
But it's not just the food that's great; the service is friendly and attentive, and the whole place has a relaxed, welcoming feel to it.
It's easy to see why we kept coming back. Easily a 10/10 recommendation. Hats off to Johan and the team for leaving all their passion and love on the table to share all their good vibes with the people who choose to visit.
I should also not forget to mention the fact that everything they serve is fresh and that they serve the best coffee in the whole town, made from the beans that are sourced and roasted locally by El Camaradu from Nerja. I am a coffee lover (and barista myself) and can honestly say that they are worth a visit for the coffee, just like the food.
PS: The picture I added to this review does not do the food, nor the athmosphere justice. We hope to visit La Taperia...

The menu is small which I personally love because it often hints that most of the food will be made from scratch.
Everything we had seemed made to order, from scratch and with a wonderful balance of flavors.
We shared the potatoes and chickpeas salad for the entrees and the falafels for the main course.
The potatoes were crispy on the outside, soft on the k side and arrived at the table just hot enough. The sauce isn’t the typical red sauce you get in Spain, but a tahini based one ( I think). It was excellent and a perfect pairing with the chickpea salad that had this great balance between sweetness and vinegar.
On the main course, the falafels were crispy on the outside and it dry at all on the inside. They weren’t perfectly rounded which again hints that the cook made them herself.
We ended with dessert with the lemon mascarpone which was also excellent.
Loved every item, service was warm and personable even for us with...
Read moreWe visited La Taperia based on the reviews and recommendations and when we left we wondered why it had only 4.7 stars.
The place is run by Scottish and Welsh/Australian people who couldn’t be any friendlier and they welcome you truly and warm-heartedly.
We dropped by with our baby, after an exhausting hike and long car ride and they made the place instantly child-proof and even played and took care of him, so we could eat together. The hospitality was second to none. We wished, we had more time to chat but time just flew by.
Oh I haven’t said anything about the food yet. Go try it and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. It’s fresh, it’s exciting, it’s different, it’s just perfect. And it all blends so well with the atmosphere and makes it all an experience. The price was astonishingly low too. Im used to paying more for far less. 😅
