My husband and I were suprise invited by our amazing friends and they took us to EL CASINO. Like most entrances in beautiful Frigiliana it was rather inconspicuous, but once you´re in, it opens up to sooo much more. Receiving a wonderful welcome, we were taken upstairs to the terrace where it took us a minute to grasp the shear beauty of the surrounding landscape. Just stunning. The service was excellent, attentive and refreshingly friendly ( not that easy to find at the CdS) The wine was amazing but it was the menu that intrigued us to order things we have never tasted before. Suger cane honey is a very local ingredient, in combination with aubergine or goats cheese it was a surprising revelation, so good. But it was the veal that was the star of the evening and I think, it couldn´t have been better. Cooked to perfection and just yummy. I never usually mention price, but it is worth a mention here. In comparison to the overpriced, underwhelming places along the coast, this restaurant has great quality with very fair prices and we would have been happy to pay more (although we were invited and actually didn´t pay at all) Finishing with coffees and Brandy´s and a cheeky dessert, sitting way longer past sundown, we had an incredible evening and guess what.. we´re going to be back. Thank you EL...
Read moreShockingly bad pasta dishes. I had spaghetti mariniere and my wife had spaghetti carbonara. Both meals were absolutely tasteless and mine was only luke warm. My mariniere had just two prawns, two muscles and four clams, one of which had not opened so was not edible. I have never had a cookery lesson but could have produced a far more tasty dish with one arm tied behind my back. My ‘sauce’ tasted like it was a cheap mix of mayonnaise and tomato sauce and clearly had no herbs or spices or anything in it. It was horrible. My wife said her carbonara only had mushrooms in it and the sauce tasted like it was milk. No meat whatsoever! We did not complain because I did not want to upset my wife by making a fuss and did not mention it until we left. My wife then told me how bad her dish was. We’ve vowed to be more honest at the...
Read moreIt is difficult to find this restaurant situated in the narrow streets of the pretty white village of Frigiliana. You need to be relatively able-bodied to get there, although possibly a taxi could get you much closer than your own car in view of restricted access. Accessibility inside the restaurant isn't great for some disabled people. It has a lovely rooftop terrace with great views. It is a relatively smart restaurant, with a white tablecloths and proper table napkins but not overpriced or forbidding. I consider there to be a good range of food on the menu and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. My wife enjoyed her meal but probably not, as much as I did. The food is quite Spanish and this isn't always to her taste but on this occasion she was fairly happy, so that's a good sign. We found the staff pleasant...
