When you want waves of delicious tapas and proper friendly service, Bodeguita De Tapeo in Fuengirola is an absolute belter.
I went with my buddy after we'd been trekking around all day — including a mad little route up near Canillas de Aceituno that left us starved and sunburnt enough to look like two boiled hams. By the time we rocked up, we needed food urgently and in embarrassing amounts.
The place had a brilliant buzz the second we sat down. My mate ordered a sangria, and he was absolutely delighted when he found out it was only three euro. You’d swear he’d won the lottery. He wouldn’t shut up about it for the rest of the meal, practically giving a TED talk on how it was “the best bargain on the Costa del Sol.”
We went big on seafood — squid and swordfish. The squid was tender, beautifully charred, and had that proper seaside flavour that makes you close your eyes and nod like you’ve just heard a great guitar solo. The swordfish? Juicy, fresh, perfectly grilled — the sort of dish that makes you seriously consider a second round, no matter how full you are.
We ended up sharing about seven or eight dishes overall, each one landing like a greatest hits album. We basically challenged ourselves to see how far we could push the table before it collapsed under the plates.
Not many locals the night we were in — mostly Irish and English folk, all in great form, loving life. But honestly? Didn’t matter a bit. The place had that happy, lively buzz that makes you feel like you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.
Keep it going, lads. Fantastic...
Read moreLa Bodeguita is my favorite restaurant in Fuengirola. There you'll find locals and long time customer dining. That's a mark of quality for me. Pablo, the owner, gives a personalized service to every customer. You'll hear customers calling him by the first name and he replies in the same manner. The Bodeguita has an extensive selection of tapas at reasonable prices and consistent quality. That is a sign of quality - a good cook makes or breaks a restaurant, right? I also enjoy this small restaurant because I don't have to worry about rushing. Pablo accommodates every customer with the same esmerado servicio. After two summers, I'll continue dining here. Highly recommended. Pulpo y...
Read moreGreat place to enjoy and experience a real taste of Spain. This place is a must visit in Fuengirola, the food is varied and plentiful. The service is friendly and efficient, which may seem rushed to some tourists, but this looks like a hard working family run business to me. At busy times there is always a queue and frequented by Spanish locals, always a good recommendation in my book. They do speak a little English and provide the menu in English too. We had a delightful meal today and hope you are inspired to try it...
