Our Alhambra tour guide recommended this place to us, coining it as a local favourite and it did not disappoint.
We arrived a little past noon just to find it already packing with locals mingling with their drinks. We ordered some dishes and was told we had more than enough. The really friendly, non English speaking server then asked us gesturing on the menu if we'd love a dish that we didn't order, he made it clear through body language it was his favourite, so we said yes. Portions are so big we recommend to order the smaller portions whenever possible, we are a party of 4 and we had more than enough of each dish to share.
We highly recommend the tomato salad, which was just tomato slices soaked in olive oil and herbs, yet it was divine. We also really loved the fried mixed seafood, the batter was ever so light and it was just perfect for the fresh seafood!
We were surprised to find that at the end of the really delicious meal that, the dish we initially didn't order but was recommended to us, wasn't charged and was on the house, offered to us for free with drinks, a Granada tradition where free tapas is given with drinks order! It was such an amazing and authentic experience, I can't recommend it enough and I'm so grateful for our guide for his...
Read moreIf I can give out 1 10 star rating this would be it! Wow! This place was absolutely amazing. To start it’s busy !! Want a local feeling tapa bar this is it! There could be a line but it’s worth the wait i promise! Next the service, EMILIO, now he is the man you want. Make sure you ask for him and he will take care of you like if you are family to him. He will give great recommendations of wine and food and continue to make sure everything is okay until you are out the door! He was one of the two reasons why we came back to this place a second time instead of trying a new place. The other reason is of course the food!!! The jamón asado is definitely their thing!! And the fried chorizo I don’t even have words. That was my absolute favorite. Have it with the cheese I promise it will be so amazing you too will go back the following night. Really loved this place cannot say one bad thing about. If and when I come back to Spain I will choose Granada for at least two nights just to come here twice again!! Thank everyone and thank you Emilio for kindness and your amazing suggestions! (And to our driver who recommended this place in the...
Read moreSituated on Calle Veronica de la Virgen 16 Bar Avila is a smaller place, but a place I found enjoyable. After my experience with Los Diamantos I found this place to be better. At least in my opinion. The place is not big and when I went that evening to eat I saw a few free places so I managed to sit at the bar and order something to eat. I ordered a main here and two tapas. The bar (like others) has a one tapa one free beer policy so that way I enjoyed two beers after my meal. The prices are decent and I enjoyed the tapas. One of them I found delicious, the beans tapas while the cod left me somehow in doubt. The fish was very good but I did not enjoy the sauce. The tomato sauce felt a bit off so I left most of it on the plate. The fish however was very good. One thing that popped in my eyes in Granada was the fact that many of the customers were tourists. While in Seville, Cadiz, Ronda the locals were the main customers in the places I tried in Granada it felt like more tourists then locals. Anyway if ever again in Granada I think I’ll try this place one more time. If only for...
