I had to verify the hype -- it's true! The service is exceptional, and the food has a homemade vibe to it. I had the pasela with chicken and almonds and the lentil soup as a side dish. Both were very good. The chicken and onion mixture inside the pasela was moist and seasoned with a perfect balance of sweet and savory - many cooks either make it too sweet or the chicken mixture is dry. The lentil soup was very flavorful without being hot-spicy. Also, the homemade lemonade, served with plenty of ice, was cold, delicious and refreshing. Just the right combination of sweet and sour.
As someone intimately familiar with Arab-Andalusi cuisine (I've been traveling to Morocco and Algeria for 15+ years and am married to a North African Arab), I can say this holds its own with the best. When I asked the owner how she learned to cook like this, she replied boisterously, "with love!"
My meal, just under 10 Euros, was a great value. As they have an extensive offering of vegetarian dishes as well, I plan to return tomorrow and try the veggie lasagna or moussaka.
Thank you to the patient young lady who served me and the lively owner in the kitchen. Lunch was a true pleasure....
Read moreWe went there in 2019 for the first time with my wife and absolutely loved it. We ended up getting their empandas several times during that trip. This year, I came to Granada in June for the second time and as my first meal I got two of their empanadas and got an upset stomach. I thought it might have been a bad luck but the empadans were not as tasty as I remembered and were relatively expensive. This week, during my third visit to Granada, I went there again and got their spinach and their chicken empanadas. But both were not good. In fact I only took a few bites from the chicken empanada and had to threw it away.
I find it sad that this place which used to have really tasty and affordable empanadas, turned into something that I will never go to again. I hope they can figure out how to go back to what they used to be, because clearly things...
Read moreWent there on our first and last day of our trip. Small space is okay and they only accept cash which is quickly forgotten by the cheerful attendant. Both my partner and I got the veggie salad (falafel, humus, and a salad in a bowl) it was tasty and cheap and we had a lot of other food that day so when we both had stomach issues that night, we didn’t assume it was due to this place. Now for the last day of the trip: this was the only food we had and my partner was up ALL night vomiting, he 100% had food poisoning. While I wasn’t as sick as him I still had my issues. This food was the only common link between the two days and after reading the 1 star reviews I feel disgusted with myself for not only eating there once but twice. Super disappointed and...
