This place is clearly not for tourists on New Years Eve. Walked in and started to talking to a waitress when some fellow started yelling at her to get a bottle of red wine. She told me to wait and ran off, indicating this person had some authority over her. It was very rude of him to interrupt her and me. Their New Years menu was 3 apps, main n dessert. The first soup was served lukewarm and was like Campbell's chicken noodle soup. The cauliflower app with crispy bacon was hot and satisfying. The asparagus with scrambled eggs was also room temperature and very soggy. For mains, we had salmon and beef. The salmon came with some sort of smashed broccoli which was very unappealing. The fish itself was lukewarm, unseasoned with salt or pepper, and lacked any sauce or garnish to make it visually appealing. I'm from Seattle so I know my salmon and I'm sad that a salmon was so poorly treated. The beef was even smaller than the salmon and the sauce was too strong, eliminating any flavor from the beef. By this point, we had been there for 2 hours and wanted to leave, so we skipped dessert. Total price was 60 euro per person. Here's why I say that this isn't for tourists. Locals were ordering things not on the New Years menu like sushi, paella and oysters. None of this was told to us as even an option until I asked after we had ordered the New Years menu. I was told that they only had a New Year's menu when I walked in so I was rather unhappy to learn that there was other things you could order a la carte like paella and sushi. The only menu they had was Spanish and on a waiter's iphone so clearly not anticipating tourists. Not enough wait staff for tables either. At one point, the sushi chef was serving shelled oysters. So, I'm not impressed by the restaurant and would not recommend it to anyone else. It baffles me how they can cook a salmon without...
Read moreStumbled upon this place after looking around the area for a restaurant to eat at that wasn’t jam packed and was in for a nice surprise. The food here was impeccable with the service to match.
Food: I got the pork cheeks and the foie gras mango toast. Both were so delicious.
I’m very picky with meat as a recreational chef and appreciate when it’s cooked right. The meat was so tender and pulled apart so juicily, soaking up the marinade perfectly. I’ve been a bit scarred from ordering this dish since a lot of restaurants I tried overcook they meat, but they did it just right.
The foie gras mango toast was also delicious. It doesn’t sound like a combo that makes the most sense but the server recommended it and I just went with it. And I’m so glad it did cause the flavors just worked together so well.
Service: Impeccable service. Server would check in on me routinely and gave me a number of recommendations. Also was very patient with helping me understand the Spanish menu haha.
Vibe: it’s cute and cozy place with a wine bar. There were a couple groups here and there but not jam-packed at all.
Would highly recommend...
Read moreHave been visiting the restaurant weekly in the past few months with friends and we love it!!! They have a decent selection of wines and they offer exquisite takes of typical Spanish food. The ingredients they use are top quality (from the virgin olive oil brought from Jaen, to the bread, the fresh vegetables, wild mushrooms, foie, etc). One chooses a typical stew of the north, and you think you will get a good plate of food your mum would prepare but there is always a twist that elevates the dish and reminds you of haute cuisine. We have tried meat plates and fish plates and both are equally delicious but we have ended up with preferences we just have to have every time we go there such as their famous "croquetas" and "huevos con alcachofas y foie". I have few photos because we always attack the plates before I can take good shots. They also have home made desserts from a local provider and they are delicious. To sum this up, the quality and flavour offered justify the prices. The food is excellent, whether you go just for tapas or for a meal, and I wholeheartedly recommend this...
