Review of Costillas Locas – A Memorable Evening.

We booked a table at Cort Locas for last night, January 3rd, and it’s a good thing we did because the restaurant was completely booked out. A promising sign for a new establishment. The atmosphere was buzzing, and it was clear that the new owners have put a lot of thought and investment into creating a vibrant, informal dining space. The decor features eye-catching neon lights, sleek wood-top tables, and comfortable seating, making it a welcoming and trendy spot.

Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by who I believe was one of the owners, holding an adorable little boy with blue-framed glasses. He was absolutely charming and added a personal touch to our welcome. We were promptly shown to our table and given menus. The staff throughout the evening were hardworking, friendly, and incredibly attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

Our drinks arrived quickly, but we were slightly disappointed to find that each beer was only about two-thirds full, with a large frothy head taking up the rest of the glass. While I understand that some foam is expected, the head was at least 4cm high, which felt a bit excessive. I think it would be better to charge a little more and serve a full glass rather than leave customers feeling shortchanged.

For starters, we opted for the sharing platter and the prawns. The sharing platter, priced at €16, was excellent value and included Iberian Ham (which was absolutely delicious), Charcuterie, Padron Peppers, and Croquettes. My friend enjoyed the prawns (€9), though they mentioned they were a bit labour-intensive to eat. One detail was that the platter came with foiled butter wraps but no bread, which felt like a missed opportunity to complement the dish.

For the main course, most of us chose the ribs with chips (€21), as the restaurant’s name, ā€œCostillas Locasā€ (meaning ā€œCrazy Ribsā€), suggested this was their signature dish. While we were expecting a full rack of ribs for the price, we were served only half a rack, which was a bit disappointing in terms of portion size. That said, the ribs themselves were fantastic, perfectly cooked and served with a unique balsamic-like sauce that was incredibly flavourful. My friend ordered the Fish of the Day (€17.50) but found it underwhelming.

One of the highlights of the evening was the live entertainment, which was a pleasant surprise as we hadn’t known about it when we booked. The trio performing was excellent, engaging, talented, and a great addition to the lively atmosphere. I’d actually seen them perform before, and they didn’t disappoint.

When it came time to ask for the bill, our waiter offered us complimentary after-dinner drinks, which was a lovely gesture. It’s these small touches that show appreciation for customers and leave a lasting positive impression. It doesn’t cost much, but it goes a long way in making diners feel valued.

Overall, we had a great night at Costillas Locas. While there were a few areas for improvement, like the beer servings and portion sizes, the delicious food, friendly service, and vibrant atmosphere made for a memorable experience. Well done to the team, we’ll definitely be back and look forward to seeing how the restaurant continues to grow and refine...

Completely full so glad we booked a table for 4. Was places near the door, never great seatings but hey somebody needs to sit therešŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø We ordered drinks and they came very rapidly and we were ready to order food. 2 times spareribs ad libitum, 1 cheese and bacon burger and a kids hamburger menu. Was about 15minutes but that fast when the restaurant is full. Food looked amazing. Ribs were so juicy and tender šŸ˜‹ Burgers were great too. We asked for bbq sauce but they seriously didn’t knew what it was and then said we already had the sauce for the ribs on the table. I tasted it and it was black, thin substance that tasted like soya sauce but they insisted it was how it should be. Please make a proper bbq sauce, those amazing ribs deserve a proper sauce please šŸ™šŸ» Place is relative new and being made into a nice restaurant so everything looks nice and new. Will definitely come back if you please change the sauce. When we ordered more ribs that came fast but they got smaller...

I was there yesterday to celebrate my son birthday, normally it was good there. First we were 5 persons at a table for 4 persons. When we ordered the drink she forgot one water i ask for the water and she said yes. She forgot again and i ask again ,this time she came with the glasses but still forgot the water so I had to ask again. When the food came. The burger was okay. The spareribs was dry and normally the come with a bowl for the bones and marinade for the spareribs but they forgot. We try to catch one all the time for ask for more spareribs. She took the plate and we asked for 2 coffee and we waited for long time. In the end it didn't come so we asked for the bill. She also forgot that and we had to ask again. Not the best birthday...

Can not say it was the best food Iā€˜ve ever had. I especially don’t understand a mustard based sauce on the baked potato. I asked for butter, but instead was served this mustard concoction. I couldn’t eat it. The restaurant states the concoction is yellow butter. 🤪. What is added to the butter that makes it this color and so liquidy? The ā€šbutter’ sure as heck looked, tasted and smelled of mustard 🤮 and had little seeds included. If a customer orders butter, butter should be served! My friends lamb chops look like the have been in the deep fryer 🤪 Very loud music, somewhat like a disco. AND is it hygienic to use the kitchen as a storage room?
