Le Blue – A Shadow of Its Former Self
We’ve enjoyed many memorable meals at Le Blue over the past five years, which is why we chose it for my husband’s birthday last week. Sadly, what was once a reliable fine-dining experience has become an overpriced disappointment.
Walking in, we were struck by how quiet it was—only four tables occupied in mid-June, a far cry from the bustling atmosphere we remembered. The sleek, minimalist décor remains, with its crisp white linens and those stylish but punishingly uncomfortable Art Deco chairs. At least the service was impeccable—warm, professional, and perfectly timed, just as it always has been.
But the food - A letdown on almost every level.
We started with Gambas al Ajillo, which was decent - though nothing extraordinary. Then came the Albóndigas, a laughably small portion for €18 — the kind of dish you’d expect as a free tapa in a local bar, not a premium offering in a fine-dining restaurant.
The Tartar de Atún (€24) was the biggest disappointment. The tuna lacked freshness, with a texture that was just...off. At that price, you expect top-quality fish, not something that makes you hesitate before the next bite.
Thankfully, the Solomillo (steak) saved the meal—cooked to perfection, tender, and full of flavour. But at these prices, one excellent dish shouldn’t feel like a lucky exception. The Patatas Fritas were forgettable, and the Cataplana de Mar (€28) was tasty but shockingly sparse—more broth than seafood, with meager chunks of fish and shellfish.
Even the extras felt like a rip-off. A €2.40 "table charge" for what? Bread that used to be complimentary? Two bottles of sparkling water and a €21.50 bottle of cava, the bill hit €158.30 - a staggering sum for what amounted to one great dish, a few passable ones, and several outright disappointments.
Le Blue still has the polished service and chic setting that made us love it, but the soul is gone. The food no longer justifies the prices, and the little added charges (like that absurd table fee) leave a sour taste.
Three stars for the staff and decor. But we...

Read moreI was so disappointed that after booking a table online as a celebratory dinner for my son leaving to go to Australia we arrived at the restaurant to find it was closed. I had two email confirmations of my reservation. I have eaten at this restaurant on numerous occasions and considered it my favourite restaurant in Guardamar but will be hesitant to book it again as we were left trying to find another good restaurant but thankfully Origen were able to facilitate us and it didn’t disappoint as the food and service were second to none so I would highly recommend...
