I absolutely loved Guachinche El Divorcio in La Orotava — hands down the best guachinche I’ve visited. For those unfamiliar, a guachinche is a traditional family-run eatery in Tenerife, usually set up in a rustic home or winery, where locals serve homemade wine and authentic Canarian dishes at great value. It’s one of the most genuine ways to experience Canarian culture.

Here, everything felt authentic: the homemade red wine, the tender octopus, the grilled cheese with mojos, and the welcoming, family-style atmosphere. It’s simple, hearty food cooked with love, enjoyed in a setting where you truly breathe the essence of the Canary Islands.

One thing to note: it’s cash only — but honestly, that just adds to the no-frills, authentic charm.

Beautiful location overlooking the farmland. You'll have to wait for a minute before being seated on the weekend. Parking is very easy outside for free. Tomatoes weren't ripe yet (not red), Garbanzo beans were a bit bland. The cheese was great. The pulpo was very tender but no spicing and for our taste a bit bland. This place is overrated. We went here because of the good reviews, but honestly, apart from the backyard vibe and nice views, the food was just bland and just tasteless.
