El Deseo — Restaurant in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

In general e very average experience, especially for a more touristy spot.

In comparison to other restaurants / locals which can be found sometimes in more public spots but especially a few roads further into the town, it sadly looses out, especially with the food. Which (Carbonnara and veg. Lasagna) was just a blend, almost sad experience for it's price tag.

And this is truly sad, because you walk into a lovely tall ceiling room where you are welcomed by friendly and kind staff.

It's a nice spot for a wine and maybe for tapas, at least stealing glances to the other tables and their nice plates filled to the brim, and the bread?

Oooooooooh the nice oven warm fresh bread.

It makes such a wonderful and delightful hope for more, which sadly is just completely undermined by our food experience.

But maybe there will be some improvement along the way, it would...

I can't really understand the other reviews. We went here cause of them and were quite disappointed. The whole visit started great - tasty wine, nice fresh bread, friendly service. And then our food arrived. We had the vegetarian lasagna and the spaghetti carbonara. Both were utterly blend in taste - not a pinch of salt or pepper. And that for 12€ each? Not really satisfying. Sadly I would not recommend coming here - only if you want to drink a glass of wine and have some bread with aioli (which also is priced with 3€, a bit much tbh).

My husband and I ate here back in 2019. Back in the Canary Islands, we returned to this great tapas place. It's located two blocks south-east of the indoor market.

We were with another couple - their first visit to Gran Canaria.

My husband and I shared the tacos de pescado con mojo verde, pimentos del patron, a tortilla, and Berenjenas a la Parmesana (like an eggplant parm).

Very nice portions and all excellent.

I mentioned to our waiter that we had been here before and he was pleased that we returned.
