There’s no place else I would consider staying my next time in Las Palmas. I honestly couldn’t understand why this hotel had such high reviews but I decided to go ahead and book and I’m so happy I did. I will say Pictures and videos can’t describe the at home feel you get just from walking into the hotel. It has such an incredible beauty and charm to it that makes you feel so at rest. It’s so quiet and the service was just exceptional, everyone was so friendly and helpful, always greeting me with a smile. I booked the cheapest, smallest room and I must admit at first I thought it was too small but 5 minutes after being in the room I got used to it. Sometimes I’d just leave my door open while working in the room. I don’t think you’re meant to just stay in your room though, there’s so many places to sit and work outside of your room or in the lobby. Shower pressure and hot water was perfect every morning. Breakfast just was the icing on the cake! Absolutely perfect breakfast and you had multiple options. You don’t just get one dish you can pick at least 2 dishes every morning. So if you want eggs, cheese and toast with a side of pancakes, you can have that along with a really great selection of coffees and teas. Also the beach isn’t that far. That was my biggest concern but the walk is comfortable and the remarkable landscaping makes the walk worth it. You have access to so many restaurants, fruit markets, cafes, shops etc. I went to a cute small Italian restaurant for dinner just 2 minutes from the hotel and then walked one minute to an upscale restaurant for desert. It’s just super accessible. Also I’ll just add a small note. I’ve never felt uncomfortable traveling solo anywhere as a black woman but I know some people have those concerns so I’ll just say I felt incredibly welcomed here. Most people I met didn’t look like me but I always felt welcomed and never had a concern. I...
Read moreThe main thing preventing a five rating is the lack of anywhere to hang a towel to dry. As the weather is warm, we wanted to shower twice a day and our towels were permanently damp and unpleasant to use. Such a simple thing to fix. The rooms are large with plenty of space remaining for either a free-standing or wall-mounted rail where a towel could be dried; instead there are just hooks within the shower cubicle where the towels hang in folds and don’t get air. |A little more choice at breakfast would also be good. The dishes on the menu are tasty and well made but increasing the savoury options from 4 quite prescriptively defined recipes by adding a couple of flexible options such as a choice of boiled, scrambled eggs, poached eggs with bread or toast would allow for variety. |The hotel is a peaceful retreat: The rooms are simply and tastefully decorated, the AC is effective, and the roof top breakfast space, honesty bar and pool are delightful. A lift makes it easy to manage your cases and to get to the roof if you struggle with stairs. There’s a simple and cost-effective parking solution with a nearby public car park if you have a car: you pay the hotel a daily rate and they give you vouchers; the car park add those to their system so your number plate is recognised on entry and exit and you can come and go with ease.|A special shout out for Giuse (I hope I spelled her name correctly) on reception who, amongst a friendly and helpful staff, stood out as exceptional. She helped us with restaurant recommendations, made reservations with those that needed a phone call, and juggled some of our bookings around when restaurants we wanted to visit had limited availability. |All in all, a lovely stay. If they can sort out the towel situation, I wouldn’t...
Read moreJust spent a week in the hotel, Veintiuno. Lovely location in the old part of Las Palmas, Vegueta. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming - happy to help with any queries including giving excellent restaurant recommendations and phoning on our behalf to book ahead. And incredibly apologetic when things didn't go according to plan (two single beds instead of a double which was corrected the following morning; a delay in serving breakfast which wasn't entirely their fault). The roof top garden has a small pool and bar and is a fantastic place to relax. It was an 'honesty bar' while we were there which was a lovely touch - no having to hassle someone when you want a drink if you get hot by the pool, or want a wee tipple as the sun goes down. Rooms are a modernist design with very comfortable beds and excellent rain showers. Two bottles of drinking water were provided every day (in glass bottles which hopefully is more environmentally sound than plastic!) and were very welcome after a hot day of exploring and sightseeing. Breakfasts are sumptuous - one sweet and one savoury course for each guest, every day, made fresh. I have a busy stressful job and this hotel allowed me to leave all my cares behind and fully relax. Many thanks to all the staff for achieving that. A couple of recommendations for the hotel staff (to make their hotel even better!) - more tables for breakfast so there's not so much of a wait for guests at busy times (apparently they're already looking into that) and maybe consider allowing guests to have two sweet courses at breakfast - I would have loved to have pancakes (they smelt fantastic) but that was impossible after a tasty savoury course (I realise I could have just had...
