Stay away from this place if you like to be treated respectfully, value good service or are looking for the best tapas. I am a former airline crew coming to Las Palmas a lot. Friday we were 4 guys for lunch and beers. A lot of waiting for the waiter, and some of the orders never arrived such as alioli. The tapas was at best average, and the prices is higher than other places. But I have good experience from El Tipico Espanol from 2022 and earlier with different waiters with much higher standards in their work. So on tuesday I decided to go back for drinks and food, hoping for better experience this time as the place is located next to my apartment. I arrived 17.40 and ordered a coffee waiting for my friend to arrive. At 18.05 I ordered another coffee, still waiting for my friend that was late. Then I am told from the waiter in charge that they cant accept ordering coffee as they have guest waiting for tables. The way she was saying it was really rude and shoking. I can understand the policy but you would expect them to do it in a different and polite manner. I decided to leave as it ruined my joy being there. My worst experience in a restaurant in Las Palmas. The waiters seem like they dont want to work there. No smiling. Unhappy. Rude. So I never go back.
If you are a looking for good service and good food on the Canteras beach, go to Casa Roja or Taberna Chica Grill. Of the tapas menu in Taberna Chica Grill, try the gambas al ajillo. They serve you probably the biggest portion and maybe the most tasty gambas al ajillo...
Read moreJust don't. There is hundreds of other restaurants. We really felt like a paella and there was a nice choice of 3, as it was very difficult to find a spot that does a vegetarian one we decided to give it a go despite the place looking very busy. There were 3 members of staff for 80 tables and one, messy server. We came to eat quite late with a child. The child wasn't really acknowledged much. We have been given a wait of 30 minutes which was OK. Instead we have waited for nearly an hour, with a crying child. Not a single glance even at our table for the entire duration. We have been asking and being told the waitress was told 30 minutes. When it came, the veggie paella was great but the mixed one had rubbery bits of beef in it and wasn't very good. Just a terrible experience, staff chewing fries in a rush, stuffing their faces while running around, poor people. Did I mention there is no toilet and you have to ask for a key to go somewhere around the corner? Just choose a...
Read moreFor a long time I though it was a tourist trap, 'el tipico Espanol' was always full of tourists and prizes are quite a bit higher than the other restaurants. When we entered the restaurant we were kindly greeted and seated without any problem. We ordered a dish of selection of fishes. It is recommended for 2 people. The staff asks if you would like to make it bigger (if there is more than just 2p). So we took a portion for 3. Turns out to be size of half of table. Fish was fresh and well cooked/grilled/fried. The dish comes with side of 'papas arrugadas' - boiled potatoes served with typical canarian sauce, and a mix of vegetables. Totally recommend if you want to try good food. And the portion for 2 would be good for 3. So if you ever consider taking the plate of fishes make Shure you are hungry or there is one person more than the...
