Any movie directors there, read this because I don't know how this is even possible. Makes a great comedy movie idea however..
At 5pm we reserve a table for three for 8pm.
we arrive on time and the table is not set..
after waiting a little, we finally sit and get to look through the menu
in addition to starters, we order 2x sirloin stakes (medium cooked) , 1x parmesan pasta, red wine and sparkling water
Water arrives in 3x separate bottles which the waiter did not open for us and leaves. We open them ourselves and pour it to our glasses.
Waiter comes with another random red wine not mentioned in the menu (because it ran out it seems) and asks us if can we take this one. No options given and the price for the bottle is 34€. (In the store it costs 13€)
-we accept the wine because we know it's decent but the price however... Anyway moving on
waiter brings wine glasses, let's us taste the wine. It's good we nod for acceptance, but then just places the bottle on the table and leaves.
we pour the wine ourselves to our glasses
appetizers arrive, they were good, no complaints
-for the main menu, another waiter comes holding 2x stakes and 1x pizza
we say we did not order pizza, waiter leaves with all three orders he was carrying
-another waiter comes with 2x sirloin stakes and gives them to us. No parmesan pasta at this point
-one sirloin stake is cooked okay, but the other one is 'well done' instead of 'medium'. It was so well done that it tasted like sawdust.
-waiter arrives, we return the plate saying this stake is well done instead of medium and we point to the waiter the other medium sirloin on how it should look. Waiter takes the plate.
-waiter comes back with some kind of hot grill stone thing (shown in picture) and gives it to the customer who was already happy with her sirloin stake.
-we look in confusion to the waiter why he wants to give that to the customer who is already happy with her stake and why would we want to cook an already over cooked stake to begin with? Waiter leaves with the hot stone
-waiter arrives with another sirloin stake with wrong additions (sliced potatoes instead of French fries) and the sirloin itself is now almost complete raw. Only the surface is cooked.
-we decided not to complain about the wrong additions but mentioned to the waiter that now the sirloin is raw and still not medium.
-waiter leaves and returns with the hot stone and informs me that I have to cook the stake myself to my liking..
-we ask the waiter where is the missing parmesan pasta and he says "4 minutes"
we cook the sirloin to perfect medium on the hot stone which took a while
after about 20 minutes when the sirloin stakes are almost already eaten we ask the waiter about the parmesan pasta.
-waiter has this "shocked" Face and runs to the kitchen
-he comes back with the parmesan pasta and no surprise it is ridiculously over cooked. The parmesan cheese itself is brown on the top and the food is all mushy like baby food.
-customer with the parmesan pasta eats a few bites and gives up as how horrible it tastes and just laughs/cries at this ridiculous situation
-waiter comes and takes our plates and the hot stone. He apologizes for the inconvenience and offers our desserts 'on the house'
-for dessert we order 2x tiramisu and 1x panna cotta. And also 2x double expresso and one americana coffee
-desserts arrive and one americana coffee but no 2x double espresso
-After waiting 10 min, one of us gets frustrated and walks to the waiter to asks for the double espressos. Please note that it seemed the waiters were avoiding us at this point..
-finally the espressos arrive after a while but they are not double.. Instead just regular smaller espressos
-we let it go and just enjoy our desserts and coffees
-waiter comes to offer sweet liquor 'on the house' as an another apology. We decline as our patience has met it's limit.
-we ask for the bill, it arrives but the details are not 100℅. Instead of parmesan pasta it shows that we were charged for 1x pizza..
-we...

Well, I do not know how to start. I and my fiancée were looking for a nice place to have a Canaries Spanish dinner and there pops this restaurant which name really convinced us this is the place: Tentaciones Ibericas. Little did we know that is only a place for people trying to fool any new tourist that comes by. This is our story.
We sat at the table, and because our Spanish is poor we wanted to be sure that our order will be taking care of in the right manner so we ordered in English. Since we just wanted to try something and not stuff our bellies we ordered a Paella Marisco that on the menu it says is for 2 persons, and we specifically stated that we wanted only one Paella. We ate, and bear in mind we are accustomed to Spanish food, therefore we rated the paella as a regular paella, tasteful, but with old seafood shells (one can see in the photo the meet is barely noticeable), overall the food being alright.
Then we wanted to pay our bill, so one of us went to the counter to pay it and also we wanted to leave our appreciation (a 20% off tip) since up to that point the service was alright. My fiancée handles the situation since her Spanish is better than mine and when she wanted to pay we encounter our worse experience in the Canary Islands. The server just informed her that the Paella that we were served is for 2 (no surprise in here since it was written on the menu as well) and that he actually ordered the chef to put more content in that Paella since is for two and he has to bill us actually two Paellas, which wasn't our intent from the get-go. Since the message came as a surprise for my fiancée she actually paid for those two paellas instead of one, leaving also the 20% tip, and we realized a little bit after that we got tricked when we wondered our-self of what happened. Retrospectively, another sign that we were tricked was when a piccolo delivered our order, not the server, and the piccolo looked a bit unhinged at the fact that at the table are two persons and he brought just one Paella with no additional dishes whatsoever. Later on, the server got the dishes to properly enjoy our meal.
One can see in the photos that the actual Paella Marisco is a small one, for just one person, not two, and that the server tricked us by adding on the bill another Paella Marisco, not by putting a quantity of 2 Paella Marisco at the moment he took our order.
Also, just a side note, don't bother to find the place on Google Maps, since the image on Google Maps is older and their restaurant does not appear in the place it is now (photos attached).
We do not recommend Tentaciones Ibericas for their...
Read moreOne of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. And I feel worse as I suggested we go in there.
The atmosphere in general didn't feel quite right and I wish we had gone with our gut instinct and walked out before ordering. The waiter was initially friendly but when he asked where we were from (from near London), his attitude suddenly changed. He seemed cold, unfriendly and brought the atmosphere down immediately. The surrounding atmosphere seemed similar with the other tables around us, so it wasn't just us.
The waiter asked if we would like some wine. We asked for a wine menu. He said there is no point as the wine menu is changing... what is on the menu, they won't have it. Odd. So we asked if they had an Italian white wine. Oddly, no... in an Italian restaurant, they had no Italian white wine. Instead, he had a special offer on a Gran Canarian white wine, so we thought let's go for it!
The wine was fine, but the conversation that the waiter had with the table next to us a moment later was not fine... because he offered them a "very nice" Italian white wine, which was not only cheaper than the wine he pushed on us, but had magically arrived back in stock within the time it took him to walk from our table to theirs. Amazon has nothing on their wine delivery guy.
When the food arrived, 2 wrong meals were brought out. They were escalopes that looked doused in oil. The incorrect meals were returned, so 2 people were left waiting for their food. Meanwhile, the rest of us were not offered any pepper, parmesan or condiments. We had to chase up the extra drinks we ordered, retrieve cutlery, and ask for some salt.
When we went up to pay the bill, we had to get the bill changed as it was incorrect. We asked to speak to the manager as we wanted to verbalise our dissatisfaction with the overall experience. Whilst we did receive an apology, it felt like it was just lip service rather than a...
