I haven’t walked away from a meal uneaten in years, but I did last night here. Settled my bill for €35 and walked across the alley to get Thai takeaway instead.
Briefly, shrimp cocktail appetizer came smothered — drowned — in a pale pink mayonnaise that ruined the perfectly decent seafood. There was no way to scrape it off successfully and I felt bad but it was inedible that way. Oddly, they also serve it on a bed of iceberg lettuce, orange slices, and mango chunks… none of this goes together, especially swimming in bland mayonnaise soup. It could be a cultural difference thing, but for me, absolutely disgusting.
The entrecôte with grilled veggies and fries as a main came on a grill. I don’t understand the novelty of this. Steak ordered medium rare quickly became well done, tough as shoe leather. The grilled veggies were nice. Fries soggy and inedible as they were sat under the veggies and soaked in a bunch of water.
Lastly, when I tried to politely excuse myself and ask for the check, the waiter gruffly tells me the “card machine is broken” and they are only accepting cash. I didn’t have cash. Miraculously, the card machine suddenly appeared moments later, working just fine. Ew.
Nothing about this experience was positive, aside from the lovely umbrella-ed tables and quant vibe. If the food in a restaurant is inedible and then the staff tries to hussle you, it’s a hard...
Read moreSo we ordered, anchovies, grilled squid and salad, fish tacos. The anchovies were not nice, it was so fishy, bearing in mind it’s not our first time ordering this. And something was definitely off, so we sent it back. They kindly enough did change this which was great. The squid was alright, but the fish taco was bad. It wasnt even a taco just fried fish with bad batter. What ruined the meal completely was the fact that they told us at the end that their card machine wasn’t working. And we either had to do a bank transfer or go to a cash machine. Out of courtesy they should have told us right at the beginning before we were seated. Knowing that we were not locals meant either way we would have to be charged at a bank transfer. Or run off to go to find an ATM which wasn’t far and be charged for that. But that wasn’t the point. The food wasn’t all that and service wasn’t even average. Would...
Read moreIt was great food one of the best seafood paella we have eaten, the place is just behind the promenade on side street so not many people can see but a great value for money. I recommend the owners to put some of the candle lamps on outside seating so it can attract more people. The waiter needs not to smoke between service. Needs to sort out the lighting for good ambience and a bit of decor upgrade would be good. It’s a shame they don’t accept cards but in order to get more happy and returning customers you should look for a good card machine broker with less commissions. Bump up the interior and start PR . And obviously the chefs are really good cook and the food was amazing. It is certainly a little gem of a place. I don’t know if the owners will read my advice but you guys are so good compared to over priced Main Street restaurants . I like to come back next year...
