Bulló Xantar — Restaurant in Lugo

I've been a very happy customer of the other restaurant this owner has in the same street, the Anda, for more than a year now. But today it was closed so we tried this one expecting the same standards. The whole experience was just average, the food and service were just ok. We noticed at the end that the bill included two portions of bread that we never asked for. We were offered "some bread" at the beginning but didn't expect to end up with bread for 4 people on the table and then to be charged for two portions (we would be happy to pay for one but not 2 when we didn't even touch most of it). I just thought it would be fair to mention it to the waiter and that's what I did. Then the owner arrives with more than an attitude, and very aggressively tells me that "he knows me well" because I'm the "vegan one" who alway gives a hard time with my requests... I was seriously prettified. I've been loving his other restaurant precisely because in Lugo it's not easy to eat vegan and they've always went the extra mile to accommodate to my dietary needs, which I thought made this place very cool and special. Some context: on a street with many restaurants and outdoor seating. No joke that every place was full for outdoor seating except for Bullo, why was 100% empty. We decided to roll the dice. Turned out to be the wrong choice.

Unwelcoming. Despite being nearly the only customers I 3 x needed to walk inside to get service. (I live in Europe so know how pacing should be)

Rude. Server was brusk , often setting things on our table then just walking away. Never smiled or spoke unless asked directly. My wife even addressed him in Spanish so he knew language wasn’t an obstacle

Bad value. Small portions including very small pours in a glass of wine- at least for tourists. For an 1 appetizer, 1 main, and 3 glasses of simple house wine =$80 USD. That’s literally double the price than any other place to be treated terribly for average food.

COD and potatoes were nearly inedible with salt. Smoked fish tartar with bland crackers lacked any interesting flavor or texture. I’m fine with simple wine, yet every glass was inexplicably different...

Todo iba bien, aceptando pagar 20€ por ración de arroz como si estuvieras en Madrid pero bueno, bien... hasta cual fue nuestra sorpresa cuando nos trajeron el arroz y era muy muy escaso, tan escaso que le dije a mi mujer que iba a quejarme y me dijo que sí (cuando ella nunca quiere que me.queje ni de la nota...) Total me levanté y le pregunté al camarero de la planta de arriba, muy majo, solo me pudo decir que todo iba medido y que él no podía hacer más, a lo que le contesté que quería hablar con el encargad@ y me dijo que abajo preguntara por ella, por la dueña. Bajo y había un chico moreno delgadito con cara de mustio, le pregunté por la dueña y parece que le molestó y contestó que tenía mucho lío... Que iba a tardar... A lo que le contesté que esperaría. Al minuto aparece la dueña y le cuento la situación, la respuesta igual que la del camarero de arriba, que iba todo medido sin dar más explicación, a lo que le dije que ese arroz entre ella y yo si nos lo comiéramos juntos no nos daba ni para empezar ... Sin ningún tipo de intención de solucionar nada por su parte me subí para mi mesa cuando llego y veo que en la mesa de al lado eran 3 personas cada una con un platazo de arroz, incluso uno de ellos acabó repitiendo, con lo que volví a quejarme. La respuesta por parte de la dueña no cambia, yo le digo que aquí aunque lo midieran había tenido que haber un error, que comprendo que todos nos podemos equivocar, pero ella no aceptaba nada, ya le dije que si esa ración se la pone a todo el mundo el 90% se le tenían que quejar, a lo que contestó que nadie se quejaba y la verdad es que no me lo creo... Ella tenía pinta de estar conteniéndose para no mandarme lejos... Cuando en un restaurante de bien ocurre esto lo mínimo que te hacen es prepararte otro plato, o invitarte a un postre o pedir perdón, cosa que está señora no hizo, lo que me hace pensar que es algo normal en este sitio, con lo que recomiendo: si se puede ir a otro sitio a comer mejor ir a otro, pero si solo queda mesa aquí y la ración es súper escasa, antes de probarlo rechazar el plato, porque es vergonzoso que por 40€ no puedan comerse dos platos de arroz en Lugo, y lo más vergonzoso aún es la soberbia escondida de la dueña sin reconocer nada, sin pedir perdón y sin hacer nada al respecto.
