We passed this restaurant on the previous evening but was unable to get a table due to them being so busy, so we reserved a table for the following evening. We had been looking forward to this meal all day but was sadly disappointed. On arrival, we was greeted with a friendly welcome and smile, good start. We was shown to our table by the lovely lady from the door. From there on, unfortunately it went downhill with the staff, the man which I can only presume was the head waiter / maitre and the waitress Eli made us feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. After spending time looking through the menu we order the mussels as a starter, sorry nope, we don't have those , would of been nice to have been told that on being seated. Have the prawns instead, ok no problem, within minutes these were plonked on the table in front of us, my husband peeled them and then asked for something to clean his hands with, perhaps a bowl of water with lemon in and a serviette, but nope, a couple of napkins we placed on the table for him to wipe his hands. We then had the lamb and a t-bone, at no stage was we asked how we wanted the steak to be cooked, it was given to us nearly raw. Now you could say, perhaps there was a misunderstanding in the language , however, that's not the case as we perfectly understand medio hecho but that's not what we got, as we wasn't asked. We also asked for a salsa con champioñes, maybe not to your staffs liking but it's on the menu, we are paying for it and so how we eat our food is our choice, your staff should not presume because we are english we did not understand spanish. Why did we not say anything you may ask? No point when you have been made to feel the way we was and it wouldn't of changed our very disappointed feelings on this experience. The food was not as amazing as we was expecting and perhaps that was due to how we had been made to feel. For 2 people our bill came to over €85 so not...
Read moreYo! Dragged myself into this place thinking I’d not enjoy it - we don’t eat red meat and walked into a steakhouse. It was soooooo good.
We ordered a bit of everything, checkout with commentary: Caracoles - generous portion cooked in its on broth with 45 spices. The flavor was incredible and the texture was perfect. I’ll take these over France any day of the week. Almejas - soo good white wine and garlic and 30-40 clams. Cooked to perfection, broth you could slurp with a spoon (or shell, like my kid). Pulpo - flavor was outstanding! Pulpo is one of our favorite dishes, so we’re a little picky - but this one was a bit chewy and hard/crunchy for our taste. Tartare de Atún, Mango y aguacate - in the states we have table side guacamole, here we had table side tuna tartare. This might have been one of the best tartare I’ve ever experienced. So delicious. Bacalao Vizcaina - Cod cooked in slightly (just slightly) spicy red sauce. Great dish, but honestly, I’d probably try something else next time instead of go back to the well on this one. Crema de puré trufado - the afterthought of the meal became one of the main attractions. What an insanely good mash - generous truffle flavors made this a table favorite.
Overall, excellent dining experience, well worth every penny.
Note to our fellow pescatarians - they have a very generous seafood menu, don’t hesitate to come here!
My wife and I were just reflecting that we could come back for the snails and a drink and be totally...
Read moreWent there on September 12th and 13th, both booked in advance via their web site. 1st evening : very cold welcoming from a girl with a headset and strange mood among the staff (right at the opening) but our waiters were eventually very friendly, very active and of good advice. The food and the wine were excellent, the meat perfectly cooked. I would have given a 5 🌟 despite the welcoming. 2nd evening was a catastrophe: same cold welcoming and this strange mood, with different staff (the waiters from the previous day were off - but we knew that already before we came. Food order was a mess: The waiter came with an assortment of premium meat but the way he was touching, holding and speaking of the meat was a actually not appetising. We ordered wine, starters and meat from the menu + extra mushrooms but it took so long (waiter did repeat the order). As the food came, a different waiter only knew the cooking we ordered but not the meat, so we are yet unsure if we all had what we ordered. The meat was overcooked and the patatas did not taste the same as the previous day (much dryer, maybe reheated / refried) We also did not receive the mushrooms (but also no charge) and the pimientos asados have been charged although the waiter said they were "included". None of us four really enjoyed their evening because of this.
This restaurant can be very good but when you come on the day with the demotivated staff and the lazy cook, this...
