The Picasso Gardens is a park inaugurated on the centenary of the birth of the great painter in 1981. The park is split two by a small road, but you can easily cross from one to the other using the zebra crossings. The gardens have a symmetrical arrangement in the shape of the petals of a flower. The park contains a great many tropical plants and trees and between two of these gigantic Ficus is the "Monumento a Picasso" cubist sculpture made in homage to Pablo Picasso by the Malagenean sculptor Berrocal.
The park is an amazing jungle of trees and greenery in the middle of a concrete jungle, in an area of Malaga that doesn't really get many tourists. The park also contains a children's play area in the eastern end of the park. Worth a detour if you're a big...
Read moreIn summer in particular this is a wonderful place to escape the scorching sun during the day. Many playgrounds are left baking in the sun so this is quite refreshing. In winter it’s less fun to be in a dark shaded area though as we all get out to soak in the sun.
The massive trees add a unique touch to the park but unfortunately they also make good sleeping spots for homeless people.
I do wish they’d have restrooms there too, especially considering kids come to spend hours...

There were no other tourists or families, only homeless people walking around or sleeping on the benches, one of whom even followed us throughout the park. We planned to spend the afternoon here reading but ended up leaving as soon as possible. There are a few nice statues and plants but we did not feel comfortable enough to take a longer look at them. Definitely not...
