The extensive colonial imagery was very disturbing. Given that there's no indication from the outside as to exactly what you're getting yourself in for, it was an awful shock. It was terrifying. The more I looked, the worse things became. On nearly every wall there are images showing people - including children - being exploited (I.e. Slavery and indentured servitude), from the time that this barbaric practise was glorified (e.g. The East India Company). It is one thing to "acknowledge" history, but when there are several tables with colonial era logos on them, it comes across as glorifying that most brutal and cruel era of history. This made my friends and I extremely uncomfortable. Due to the prominent use of such images and imagery, I could not bring myself to order, regardless of how charming the staff seemed. For this reason, unfortunately I cannot give a rating for the service or food. P.S. This does not show up in Google Maps. You have to use Street View to locate it. Furthermore, within Street View, the logo of this establishment is blurred out. In a vacuum, I'm not sure what to make of this. However, in the context of the images all over that I found utterly frightening, a cynic would assume that this aspect is being deliberately hidden.

Great sports games to play but the images of black Africans at the hands of colonialism was scary. As a South African I was stopped in my tracks to see such out of touch ‘styling’

Nice sports pub. Unfortunately, they open a bit late so no chance to watch the 6 nations. Otherwise, really nice bar!

Colonial themed interior

I was just at the bar El Colmao and am more than appalled about the Decoration. The whole interior was decorated with objects, posters, etc. related to the colonial era. On the tables was written "colonial tavern", on the wall hung a large photo of a colonial lord and everywhere was distributed "fake art" as colonial looted art ("loot") exhibited. How should people feel safe and welcome there? This decoration not only trivializes colonialism, but also glorifies it, indirectly promoting racism. I hope you will change your decoration soon!! This is...

I am writing this review as we waited for the restaurant to open for lunch @12:30PM today and it never did. The road in front was being repaved and there was no information available (even when we called the number listed) to find out if it was closed during the roadwork. We were hoping to have the black paella, having read about it on many reviews, but were disappointed that the restaurant didn't bother to put a note on the door about its closure. We waited for 15 minutes until...
