🇪🇸 Málaga Island Chill Plan: Why I Keep Coming Back!

3.5 Stars The food was good, but a few things were not optimal 1. We asked for a table outside, because one of us is a smoker. We told the lady in the front, that one of us smokes. She was really nice and said: no problem, we can give you a table on the right side. After we were seated and ordered the drinks, we asked for an ashtray. We were told, that smoking is not allowed on the terrace, only in front of the restaurant. The communication should be better and clearer. 2. The food didn‘t arrive together. We ordered 3 dishes and all of them arrived with some time apart. We waited, but one of the dishes was getting cold. It would have been better, if all 3 dishes arrived together. 3. One dish was an Entrecot. Medium was ordered, but the Steak was English. No one asked if the steak was alright or if our food was alright in general. The person ,who was eating the steak, has problems with his teeth. It was hard for him to eat it. A mistake like that could have been easily corrected, if someone would have asked us, if everything is alright. 4. We received our drinks quick. We ordered one more drink, but never received it. We ordered water and no one asked, if we wanted with gas or without. We‘re from a country, where most people drink carbonated water. Again, not a big mistake, but we prefer carbonated water. The water was served in plastic bottles. Glas bottles would be better, but that‘s just my personal preference. 5. I told one of the waiters, (the boss?) , that the steak was not right. He seemed apologetic. We asked for the bill. No one asked, if we wanted dessert or something else. Also nothing on the house was offered. Usually, if a mistake ,like the steak mistake, happens, an espresso or something else is offered. A steak is not cheap. We still left a good tip, although we weren‘t quite happy with how the evening went. 6. A bread bag and some olives with aioli were put on our table I understand, that it‘s custom in Spain. But it would be nice, to inform tourists, that it‘s not free. Many tourists don‘t know it. I‘m from a Country, that doesn‘t have coperto and never puts food on the table, that wasn‘t ordered and where bread is usually free. It feels like a cheap trick. The bread in the bread bag was cold. Warming it up would have been nice. Some Pros: The taste of the food was good and the lady in the front was nice and tried to accommodate my dietary restrictions. The Terrace is quite nice and in general we received the food quite quick, but every dish separate and with some time apart. In summary: The service was lacking. It also seemed a little bit chaotic, like no one has a fixed role. A little more attention and everything could have been fixed easily. Those small mistakes add up and can change an overall good impression to a bad one.

Visited for a Sunday afternoon lunch. Staff seemed super busy but the restaurant was not full at all. One came to take our order and one particularly impolite female staff shouted at all of us saying ‘No, you have to wait. People have been waiting for long.’ Well I don’t mind waiting but why being rude to your customers. We saw her arguing with other tables also. She prepared our drinks, and the wine was spilt all over the glass (as shown in the photo), and she literally threw the drinks on our table. Her attitude ruined customers’ impression towards the restaurant indeed. I don’t care if the food is good there or not, but one bad thing can destroy all the good. Being busy is not an excuse to be rude, especially when every restaurant along the coast are busy. Please ask your staff to mind their attitude. P.S. Other staff, especially the males are great and polite.

My boyfriend and I have been to this restaurant before and had a wonderful experience to the point where we have talked about returning many times. Unfortunately, our experience the second time around was abysmal, to say the least. We came here during lunch for my birthday and I do want to preface that we arrived after the busy lunch hour so, there's no excuse as to what happened to us.

We ordered four dishes and only one had arrived. After 30-40 minutes of receiving our first dish, our waiter had yet to grab our finished plate or give us our remaining orders. We called on a waiter and told him that we were ready for our remaining dishes and repeated to him what we ordered TWICE and confirmed with him that we would like the rest of the meals to arrive around the same time.

Our second dish arrived and after we finished our dish, the remaining two dishes had yet to arrive! Again, we call on the same waiter and he decides then to tell me that one of our orders wasn't placed into the system. He couldn't have told me when I went to check our order in the system? Unbelievable.

Our "last" dish (a steak - entrecot) arrived 15-20 minutes later and the steak and side dishes were cold and the steak was gray. It was clear that the dish had been left and forgotten. Our sauce that accompanied the steak wasn't even fresh, it was microwaved. Now, I would expect that from certain restaurants, but from a place like this? Definitely not.

We also ordered some more drinks and our waiter even forgot about them. At this time, the restaurant was practically empty and he was walking around like a lost dog.

When we asked for the check, the waiter didn't come with the card machine until another ~30 minutes later. Again, the restaurant was not busy - it was practically empty at this point. My boyfriend went to the waiter to pay and he had the audacity to tell him to wait. We watched him go to another waiter to crack some jokes and chat with each other for 15 minutes.

This place is a joke. One of the top three worst services I have ever experienced. We are completely disappointed as we were expecting the same quality experience as our first visit. We definitely will not return and I will tell all of my friends visiting Malaga to not come to this...

For english look below this one.

We visited the restaurant Toro in a group of 9 people, and the experience was profoundly disappointing. From the beginning, they brought us dirty water glasses, displaying a lack of hygiene. Our waiter seemed to ignore our requests, even when we informed him that one person was missing an order for a drink.

The food was another letdown. We ordered two portions of cod, one of which arrived destroyed in presentation, and the taste lacked any seasoning. Furthermore, the price of 22 euros per dish significantly exceeded its value, considering its size and bland flavor. The oxtail also failed to impress; although the portion was slightly better, the lack of flavor and the fries soaked in sauce simply did not deliver.

An important aspect to highlight is that NO rice dish should be ordered, as it is brought from another place, resulting in it not being served at the point it should be, likely overcooked, completely ruining the experience.

It's likely that the same owner has a chain of restaurants of equal "specialized" quality in different types of cuisine.

Overall, Toro presents itself as a tourist trap. The relationship between the food quality and the price we paid is extremely disproportionate. A bill of 240 euros for a meal that should realistically cost between 80 and 100 euros is unacceptable and certainly not representative of Spanish cuisine.

In summary, avoid this place if you're looking for an authentic and satisfying culinary experience. You can find food of better quality and price at a simple...
