Should you eat here or not?‼️‼️‼️
There was a LARGE SCREW in my food. I was eating Carrillera when I suddenly bit into something hard. At first, I thought it was just a bone or some cartilage, but nope—it was a literal metal screw. If I hadn’t been careful, I could have swallowed it.
NO ONE APOLOGIZED. The manager didn’t acknowledge what happened, and the waiter (who wasn’t at fault) just offered to replace the plate. By that time, I was already done eating—my last bite came with a screw.
The manager straight-up ignored us afterward. Before the incident, he was super friendly, asking if we liked the food. The moment it happened? He pretended nothing was wrong and focused on entertaining the table next to us.
Overpriced for what it is. Twenty-two euros for a mid-priced Menu del Día? You can get this menu at other restaurants for a lower price. Given the experience, it felt like a total tourist trap. There are so many better restaurants in Mérida for the same price (or even cheaper).
The place looks nice, but the vibe is off. The Roman-inspired interior is cool, but the atmosphere was ruined by the random “100 music hits” playlist on TV. Why would you play that in a restaurant with a Roman theme?
They took our plate before we were finished. There was still food on it, and without asking if we were done, the man who took it just said, "You will have more later." Where are the manners? We were supposed to enjoy our food slowly and savor the moment. It felt downright disrespectful.
Final Verdict: NO THANKS.
There are way better places in Mérida where you can eat without worrying about finding hardware in your food or being rushed out the door.
PS: I don't usually do reviews, but this is my first bad experience with restaurants in Mérida. Just an honest review. :))
‼️‼️‼️[EDIT: Customer’s Response to the Owner’s Reply]‼️‼️‼️
"First of all, everyone has apologized."
No. You apologized only after we asked for one—after we had already paid. The entire time, you acted like nothing happened. If we hadn’t said anything, you wouldn’t have either.
"But we highly doubt a screw would appear on a plate, much less one used for plasterboard. There's none of that here. And the cheek is heated in a microwave; the metal is quickly revealed."
So now you’re doubting us? Are you implying we put a screw in our own food? That’s a serious accusation. Also, if your food is microwaved, shouldn’t you be extra careful to make sure nothing ends up in it? This response just screams lack of accountability.
"As they say, a hair, a bone. I see it as normal. A screw, no. There are people who expect to eat for free. We're not that naive."
Excuse me? A screw is NOT normal. And now you're accusing us of trying to scam you for a free meal? Over a €22 Menu del Día? If we wanted free food, we would have demanded a refund or made a scene. Instead, we paid in full and waited for a simple apology, which you refused to give until we asked for it.
"The rest of the comments don't correspond to reality."
Trust me, I wouldn’t be wasting my time writing this if you had handled things properly. Instead of owning up to what happened, you’re just gaslighting the customer and...
Read moreDON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE!!! THEY DONT DESERVE IT!!!!!! My husband is Spanish, I am American, and we were treated horribly by the server on the patio. We only wanted to sit for a drink for literally 10 minutes and after ignoring us for 15, she ended up being incredibly rude to us and basically turned us away- we left without drinks and with a horrible taste in our mouths about this stupid restaurant and their horrible, attitude-y, atrociously rude server. AWFUL PLACE- AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
UPDATE: The owner's response just pissed me off even more-- it was 1:45 by the time we left after waiting around for 15 minutes. My husband said we would only be 10 minutes to have a quick drink, and the server still said no, but in the rudest way. There was NO ONE on the patio when we arrived at 1:30, so it's not like anyone was banging down the door to eat at this disgusting restaurant 🙄
We live in A Coruña so we know how it works, and I am not dumb- I know the difference between the word Restaurant and the word Brewery, and my husband is a native Spaniard. You guys could really learn a lesson on...
Read moreDo not EVER and I mean EVER waste your time at this establishment. Sat down to eat and drink with my family and never have I been disrespected at an establishment as I was here by the female server who was simply horrible. We were judged and sized up as a potential money maker on her part and when we shared that we wished to start out with drinks we were immediately told no and she picked up the menus and left us high and dry. You're not a customer at this restaurant under the female servers eyes, you are judged as a $$$ sign. UPDATE: as I stated there is ZERO reasoning for your server to be rude to the public and secondly our intention was drinks and a lunch menu. Your server heard what she wanted to hear and judged us immediately and you as a spokesperson for this establishment saying that there is a store located a minute away for drinks etc is a slap in the face to any potential customer that is in the fence about visiting your place. No place in society the or judgemental rudeness and you made this a practice...
